I'm just sitting around in a pair of Todd's underwear watching Star Trek and listening to the latest Puff Daddy album and thinking to myself.....I wonder why Puff Daddy was never on Star Trek. He could have played this villian that tries to take of the Enterprise by logging into Data's brain. Maybe I should stop watching this show and just dance around the house in a pair of my favorite lingere singing along to the greatest album ever put together: Grease! John Travolta was so hot in that movie. I wonder if he shaves his butt. So I think next week we are going to have a bunch people over to hang out in the hottub and play XXX-rated trivia. True or False: Male pigs have corkscrew shaped memebers? Find out next week.......

I won't be around much the next couple of days with Todd's party tonight and the OU watch party tomorrow, so I went ahead and updated all of my monthly winners for September 2001. (Can you believe tomorrow is SEPTEMBER already? Yikes!) I can honestly say I've never featured a dress like this as Dress of the Month before, but check out the bodice and skirt detail. It's simply amazing. They had an incredible photographer, too! September's Destination Wedding of the Month was held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. As soon as Delphi quits being insane, I'll also get around to updating the image on the Destination Wedding Message Board. And last but not least, September's Destination Wedding Article of the Month deals with North Carolina Outer Banks weddings.

Amusing from the Denver Gazette
Amusing from the Denver Gazette pre-game: "Last week’s issue of Sports Illustrated called Boomer Sooner the most overrated rallying cry." "The fight song experts who wrote ‘College Fight Songs: An Annotated Anthology’ were mighty charitable when they ranked Oklahoma’s Boomer Sooner as the nation’s 16th-best,” Grant Wahl wrote. Boomer Sooner is a classic example of larceny on two fronts. Its ‘composer,’ one Arthur M. Alden, stole the tune from Yale’s Boola-Boola in 1905, and a year later added a riff from North Carolina’s Alma Mater, also known as Hark the Sound. Conclusion: Those Okies are more egregious samplers than Puff Daddy.” Comparing Oklahoma to Puff Daddy...my two worlds are seriously colliding! And as if OU has ever tried to deny or cover up our fight song's origins -- it's proudly described on our traditions page. Heck, what do they think Boomers and Sooners originally were anyway? Screw 'em...and Boomer Sooner!

You've just gotta get this look
How to tell your husband turned 29 the day before, and you're just about to follow him...

The new Old Navy "low ride" jeans commercial that just came on makes me cringe. How much lower can they make these things and still have a crotch in them? For someone with good ol' American-style birthin' hips like myself -- I don't care if I'm at a size 6 or a size 12 -- there's no way my figure would have fit in those things since the day I hit 18 (even when I was in college). And at 5'10" their "it's gotta be a mini" campaign made me cringe as well. My butt cheeks would have so been hanging out of those things. Thank goodness for J. Crew and Ann Taylor. I may not buy often, but when I do, at least they keep me sane.

I'm also really thankful I don't have a junior-high age-daughter at this point in fashion. How on earth do their parents send them to school each day without them looking like they should be on the street corner (not just waiting for the school bus). It's no wonder NBC Nightly News just did a segment on this. Looking at the commercials on TV now that are targeted towards that age group, I can't imagine fighting that daily battle with my child! Much less saying, "No you can't have the Angel Slut or Route 69 shirt."

Well if you're in the
Well if you're in the neighborhood tomorrow night, I think I finally have the menu set for Todd's 29th birthday bash! We're going shopping tonight, and I guess I'll be cooking/baking up a storm tomorrow... It's just a finger-foods/snacky-cakes kind of thing, but it's so hard figuring out stuff that will keep everyone happy. He wants a chocolate devil's food cake with chocolate icing, so I think I'm going to make a layer cake with a layer of cream cheese icing in between just for variety. In case someone can't eat chocolate, I'll also have white-chocolate covered pretzels and my "famous" cinnamon pretzels on hand. I'm also going to make (spicy) queso to put with tortilla chips. And of course, margaritas-cha-cha-cha (and beer) for hot tubbing. Ok, suddenly I'm getting very, very hungry!

I just wanted to take a few seconds to gripe about busy signals. They are such a pain in the arse! It's 2001 people. Call-waiting can be just as annoying...heck we don't even have it ourselves for that very reason...but upgrade to voicemail, call-notes, whatever, already. There is nothing more annoying than that "nunh nunh nunh" sound for 40 minutes straight. Todd's birthday has come and gone and someone is going to be very disappointed they missed talking to him (and I'll probably be in trouble for it), but we TRIED. We told them we were heading out to dinner...but then they couldn't stay off the phone, and now it's past *midnight*... Ugh! :-)

As expected...
Well as expected, Miami waived Josh Heupel today because of injury. This is actually something that we're both really happy about. As much as we'd like to have him within driving distance, this will be so much better for his career! Miami was just not a good fit (and they're an orange team...blech). We'd like to see him go to Green Bay (which would be easier with Bishop being waived today), but the possibilities are endless I guess. Here's what Miami coach Dave Wannstedt had to say: "I know there was a lot of people that liked him going into the draft," Wannstedt said. "He's a great kid, he's intelligent, he's a winner. I think everybody knows that just because of the circumstances here, he never really got an opportunity to show what he might be able to do. Under those circumstances, he could get another opportunity. And I'd love to see it." Good luck Josh -- we know you'll do well whatever lies ahead!

I really do have the best husband in the world! It's the eve of his 29th birthday, and he's been working his little hiney off tonight ever since he came home with the carpet steamer -- taking the border-remnants off the guest bath and kitchen walls so I can finish painting before his party on Friday. There are a lot of cathedral-ceilings involved, and he knows I'd probably fall and break a leg if I tried the high places. They're coming off now just like a charm (in case anyone wants to file this border-removal method away for future reference - thanks Gma)!

Another great one from Todd's
Another great one from Todd's cousin Susan... While suturing a laceration on the hand of a 90-year-old man, the doctor asked his patient how he thought George W. Bush was doing as President. The old man said, "Ya know, Bush is a post turtle." Not knowing what the old man meant, the doctor asked him what a "post turtle" was. He said, "Did you ever drive down a country road and come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top? You know he didn't get there by himself, he doesn't belong there, he can't get anything done while he's up there, and you just want to help the poor thing down. That's a post turtle."

You know you're from OKLAHOMA if:

2. You use your life savings to go to the OKLAHOMA/texas game.
3. You can wear red and white overalls in public and not feel stupid.
4. There's a tornado warning and the whole town is standing outside watching for the tornado.
5. You don't buy all your vegetables at the grocery store.
6. You are on a first name basis with the county sheriff.
7. When little smokies are something you serve only for special occasions.
8. You go to the lake because you think it is like going to the ocean.
9. Football schedules are checked before wedding dates are set.
10. You know what the "sea of crimson & cream" is.
11. You listen to the weather forecast before picking out an outfit.
12. Your excuse for getting out of school is that the cows got out.
13. You know cow pies are not made of beef.
14. You want to buy manure.
15. You know enough to get your driving done early on Sundays (before the Sunday drivers come out).
16. It takes 30 seconds to reach your destination that's clear across town.
17. You have complained about interstate construction ever since you got your driver's license.
18. You can pronounce correctly Hobart, Vici, Battiest, Miami, Chickasha, Alex, Poteau, Oologah. Dougherty, Achille, Empire, and Talihina.

Well we're back and OU
Well we're back and OU is now on a 14-0 winning streak (undefeated at home under Stoops)! Both my Bucs and my Sooners won tonight -- I felt like I was going to get whiplash part of the evening going back and forth between the Bucs game to the left and the Sooners game to the right. (Tampa won 20-3 over New England, and OU beat UNC 41-27.) The second half of the OU-UNC game wasn't pretty, and the Tarheels have nothing to be ashamed of walking off Owen Field. I'm a bit concerned about the Sooner offense, but time will tell. The defense earned the title "best in the nation", IMHO. We didn't look so hot coming off the OU-OS-Who game last year and went on to completely dominate FSU in the title game -- so I'm willing to chalk tonight up to first game jitters. I know the team will be running a few steps tomorrow to make up for tonight's mistakes and get ready for Air Force next week. I'm hoarse and *exhausted* -- we stopped by Wal Mart on the way home for Ludens so hopefully I'll have my voice back tomorrow. And I even got paid for the Sooner Club site with a free t-shirt... All in all it was a great evening with a large turn-out -- and a very lazy Sunday ahead tomorrow...errrrr...today now!

Well spank my arse and
Well spank my arse and call me Judy! I got one of those letters tonight that makes you do the "happy happy joy joy" dance and be completely unbearable for about 20 minutes afterwards. I was cooking away in the kitchen and heard Todd scream, "You're not going to believe this!" I designed the website for the Florida Suncoast Sooner Club a couple of weeks ago. The alumni club director uses the OU logo on his mailings and stuff because we're an officially licensed/chartered club with the University. But since I made the website (hosted on my site w/ my name on it), I didn't want OU to come around one day and go, "Well Mrs. Pollman, we're sorry to say that you're using copyrighted and trademarked images and we're now revoking your diploma, banning you from all future football games, and suing you to the tune of one-beeeelion-dollars. Thank you, drive thru." So I put the disclaimer at the bottom that I use on my "fan" sites -- but had him make sure it was ok to use the OU logos and images I did. This letter was what he got back from OU today: "Hi Steve! I loved the website. I sent it to public affairs to get permission to use as an example so we can learn what is appropriate use of the logo. If they agree, I would like to list it in our leadership guide as a good example for other clubs to use. I thought it was really great. Please pass this along to the developer. Thanks, Barry Feuerborn Director of Club and Association Relations" And then during dinner, I got another paid-advertiser bite. I'm thinking playing the lottery tomorrow might be a really good idea right now!

I finally got motivated to
I finally got motivated to try and get the kitchen painted before Todd's birthday party over Labor Day weekend. The paint has been sitting there waiting for me since June. The former owner had a nas-tay border in addition to the antacid-green paint (see photo of when it was her kitchen here). The border peels off part of the drywall and paint when it goes, so it's quite the mess, and we have to be really careful taking it all down. We're going to try our carpet steamer (idea from Gma!) and see if we can steam it off next. Part of the kitchen has a cathedral ceiling, which should make things fun. I think you should be able to force the person who put the border there to remove it...but I digress... Anyhoo, this is what I got done today (the walls that weren't effected by the border at least). Apologies in advance for the crappy webcam. Eventually that faux-fruit-tile wallpaper will go to, but first things first. At least the green will soon be gone!

This woman can literally do anything with a can of paint! I think a friend is going to use this one for her nursery. And I'm just waiting for the day/room when I decide to tackle this one. I'm not too fond of her decor, but I love that wall!

I promised myself that if I could stick to this for a month, I'd just design my own page. Maybe I should change that to two weeks? Ugh! I'm making my husband a very happy man tonight. In honor of Monday Night Football, I'm making one of his favorite dinners -- honey beer ribs. It smells so good in here right now!

Remember that bridal shop closing I posted about on Friday? They did an update on tonight's news with several of the brides, and quite a few local businesses are stepping up to the rescue now -- and one bridal shop in St. Pete is even getting a bride-to-be in the same gown she chose, and altered, by this weekend. I love it when the good guys win in the end!

I remembered seeing this photo awhile back and went to dig it up (since I've had a fun early afternoon of cleaning up around here)... The image below is of England's Prince William -- and he's scrubbing a toilet. I guess even a crown doesn't mean you're above the need to tidy up every now and again. This photo was taken in a small village in Chile. I believe over 15 people were sharing this one bathroom. And I thought just sharing with Todd every now and again was bad!

While Todd was getting ready
While Todd was getting ready this morning, I went and sat down at the dining room table to look out over all we'd accomplished last night. A group of kids (probably about 4th-6th graders) walked by on their way to the bus stop, heads down, and looking so...defeated... I remember that early-morning trek to the bus stop well! As much as I miss college, you couldn't pay me to go back to grade-jr.-sr.-high school again. I forgot to mention yesterday -- we found a new love in life. In the middle of errands, we stopped by 7-11 and grabbed slurpees. They had the new "Mountain Dew Code Red" ones. They are SO good! I love the bottled Code Red (and hate it that you can't buy it in 6-packs), but the slurpee version is muuuuch better. I think it's going to be a very dangerous thing that we have a 7-11 right on the corner!

We actually got SO MUCH
We actually got SO MUCH accomplished today! First of all, I highly recommend getting a 24-hour/day, 7-day/week post office like the one down at the Tampa airport. It's much easier to stand in line on a lazy Sunday afternoon, than to try and make the counter here in town that closes at 4 p.m. during the week. We did all the "blah" weekly grocery shopping, sold the previous owner's washer and dryer (that stayed when we moved in), and then went out to give the front yard a bit of CPR before it got dark. We spent almost 2 hours out there weeding, pruning, hacking, digging, and ripping down/out. The previous owners just did not have an eye for yard design or plantlife. We took out a small tree we both hated (one more will probably go in the next few weeks), and Todd removed a palmetto by the front door that we swear had roots down to China. I'm so exhausted I can barely move other than typing -- but it was SO worth it! I'll actually enjoy looking out the bay window in the dining room tomorrow.. I can't wait 'til fall when we can actually stand to live (and breathe) out there!

Ahhhh...a (guilty) mind
Ahhhh...a (guilty) mind is a terrible thing to taste? So I guess my very first "rant" the other day made a few waves. I just got an e-mail from the author (of the e-mail in question a few months ago), who has apparently now visited my blog. Mind you, I gave no names in that rant. I gave no specific dates (or due dates for that matter). I linked no websites. If you knew the story (from either her point of view or mine)..you did...and if you didn't, well you saw what you read and no less/no more. Let's go over the quote from her original e-mail as sent. No sentences removed -- no sentences rearranged -- this is a direct quote exactly as typed: "I am pregnant, yes thank you again for your concern. God blesses those who are ready and deserving. I'm sure your time will be soon." You can make your own judgement call as to whether or not that might be upsetting and hurtful if you were facing over two years of infertility treatments, and she knew as such. Those of you that care...do... Those of you who don't will merely skip to the next entry I make which I promise will contain a joke to lighten the atmosphere around here. But the NERVE to e-mail me asking me to update and rewrite my blog because (and I quote), "The 'Rant' comes across like I purposely emailed you to tell you about that only and to hurt your feelings." Well cry me a river. And get your own blog if you think you need a platform or a public place to vent about ME -- because MY blog is for MY feelings and MY opinions. That's why it's called a web-journal. I don't need anyone's permission to write what I feel as long as I'm not slandering their name. Period.

Well the Browns embarassed the
Well the Browns embarassed the Bucs to the tune of 7-6 on Saturday, and Brad Johnson still looked lame. 'Magine that... At least Leaf sucked so badly that most people will probably forget that Johnson & Johnson didn't really perform tonight. I'm still telling myself pre-season doesn't count so I can sleep at night until the real season starts. Thank goodness the Sooners finally take the field in less than a week! Speaking of, I updated the Suncoast Sooner Club website on Saturday. I added new photos from the watch parties last year. We're not in any of the photos, since we were actually at the games they were taken during -- but we should be making an appearance in this coming season's photos (soon). I also just discovered that the OU RUF/NEKS have an old college photo of mine at their official site. I made the "We're Still On Top" banner (third row of images, bottom right) -- and yes, it got me and my friends on ABC. Thought that was pretty cool considering that photo is back from the '93 season. Todd put some of his computer parts up on eBay after the game Saturday night if anyone is interested. Crap be gone! And last but not least...the weekend wrap-up... We saw American Pie II on Friday night for our "date night". It was really funny -- so if you're still being lazy about going to see it like we were, head to the theater and give yourself a good laugh. I'm kind of sad for my Gma right now. Saturday would have been my Grandpa's birthday. (He would have been 78.) It didn't even hit me until this afternoon that she's moving out of their house on what would have been his birthday -- and I talked to her for almost 2 hours last night. She's just decided the yard and pool are too much for her by herself, so she bought a really nice patio-home in a retirement community in my home town. That must be so hard for her -- a year ago on his 77th birthday we didn't even know he had cancer yet. I need to go call her before we go to bed...thankfully she's a nite-owl just like me... Here's wishing everyone a relaxing, lazy Sunday!

News crews are "stalking" brides showing up at the store expecting to get their gowns for their weddings tomorrow (and a couple of girls that are getting married next week), and they're in complete tears freaking out on camera that they don't have dresses for themselves or their wedding parties now. One girl had pretty much maxed out her credit card to get "the dress", and didn't even know how she was going to get another dress so soon. Sometimes people just suck.

She hid the magazine until his father got home and showed it to him. He looked at it and handed it back to her without a word. She finally asked him, " Well what should we do about this?" My first "rant"
My first "rant" in my new blog...buckle up! Earlier this summer, someone who knew about our long infertility-struggles claimed to be well-meaning by telling me news of her pregnancy, that she was "sure" my time would come soon, and (the kicker and reason behind this rant) that "God blesses those who are ready and deserving". I am a Christian and I fully believe in God's will and timing for things, but that's stuck with me for quite awhile. It didn't sit right then, and it doesn't sit right now. Especially with this dad about to be convicted of murder locally. He threw his four-week old infant daughter up against a dresser because she dared spit up on him. Then he wouldn't let the mom seek medical attention for the baby because he was afraid he might get in trouble. (Ya' think?) The baby soon died... Right after that story on tonight's news, there was one about a crack mother that had her four kids removed from the home because there was urine and feces everywhere and they were malnourished. I suppose they were both "ready and deserving", too? Grumble...grumble... <rant mode /off>

Ok, as promised, "girlie talk" today! These are a few of my favorite things... This table rules! Have you ever wanted to buy a new foundation online but had no clue what shade to pick? Here's a handy-dandy chart that spells it out: "If you use foundation 'a' in MAC StudioFix, you'll be foundation 'x' in another..." If you don't know your StudioFix shade, scroll through the chart to see if it has your color in another brand. Then follow that column for the other brands. It's brilliant! At makeupdiva.com there's a weekly beauty-advice column. You can opt to have the column e-mailed to you, and there's a great archive section full of tips and recommendations! Are people around you wearing their sunglasses because of the glow off your legs -- and not because of the summer sun? As someone with nearly-translucent skin, this is a great site with self-tanner reviews. (A must if you live in south-central Florida like me and don't want to look like a leather couch in 10 years...) And last but not least, check out the Cosmetic Connection. It's has reviews by brand and by product, as well as weekly newsletter reports. It's a really helpful site if you're trying to choose between two products!

Ok -- I promise --
Ok -- I promise -- no football when I get up "tomorrow" (Tuesday)! All "girlie stuff" all the time the rest of the week...but a quick wrap-up from tonight (Monday) since it's still "Monday night" to me...

A last-second hail-mary by Miami wiped out the Bucs last-minute fourth quarter score. The Bucs finally scored again to go ahead 14-10 (with about a minute left), and that looked like it would clinch the game for us, but alas Tampa Bay lost 17-14. I really hate the fish. Thank goodness the pre-season means nothing. We didn't see Josh Heupel at all tonight, suited up, on the sidelines, or otherwise. We're really starting to think (and hope) the Chicago-trade rumors are true but haven't found more online yet. It just goes against everything I was raised with to cheer on Miami -- but I bit my tongue knowing Josh would be playing there.

As for the Bucs...Brad Johnson looked just awful. I wish I could make that many million to fall on my arse three times. I got to see my own personal hero John Lynch (#47 Safety) from 3-feet away. Our gate was right by the player's entrance. And Todd must have been looking at a stadium concert schedule, because our seats were AWESOME! We ended up between the 10-yard line and endzone right over the tunnel the Bucs entered and exited from -- about 9 rows up from the field. We got so many up-close-and-personal shots -- I can't wait to see if they turned out. When Lynch went by before we went inside, I seriously had a deer in the headlights moment. I was too stunned he was there in front of me to even ask for an autograph (d'oh!) -- but I did get a photo of him, and he stopped to *smile* just for little ol' me. (Which brought out an "awwww yeahhh..." from Todd. LOL!) Happy early 29th birthday Todd -- glad we got to go tonight!

I'll catch everyone on the flip-side -- and thanks so much for stopping by! I about passed out when I checked my counter-stats this evening!

Le sigh
Well crud... It looks like Heupel has sprained his wrist and we didn't even hear about it! Guess that's why we missed him on Friday and it's doubtful we'll see him play tonight now. Great. In other rumors, they're trying to work out a trade between Chicago for McNown and Miami for Heupel. As much as I'd like to have Heupel close so we can watch him (cheaply) in Miami -- Chicago would be a much better place for him (offensive-wise and plain ol' lifestyle-wise). It would put him a lot closer to home, too. The Bears will be in our division one more year, so we'd get to see him play Tampa at least. I'm glad I've always hated Miami -- makes this latest rumor a bit easier to stomach. Well we're outta here... Go Bucs!

"I just found Robyn's site, Ain't too proud to blog. I love it! And you know, she must be cool because she is wearing OPI's "I'm Not Really a Waitress" nailcolor. I have worn that one before! Last time I had a pro manicure & pedicure done ... which was (sadly) my 30th birthday, September 27, 1999! *gasp* I think it's about time I have a pro do another one. I wish tomorrow was here already! I got Todd (well, I got "Todd", yeahhhh right) 2 tickets to the Bucs/Dolphins pre-season opener tomorrow for his 29th birthday at the end of the month. I don't know which of these I'm more excited about -- seeing John Lynch play again -- or seeing Josh Heupel in a Miami uniform for the first time! We tried to catch him at the free scrimmage on Friday -- but the only players we saw go by were Keyshawn Johnson, Brad Johnson, Martin Gramatica, and Warrick Dunn. Ahhhhh...I can finally smell fall in the air! (At least as close as we ever get here in Florida.) Get used to it -- with OU as the returning national champs, I'm going to be pretty unbearable until the Super Bowl wraps up in N'awlins next January! I'll post pics from the scrimmage on Friday, and the game tomorrow, soon...

I guess the real purpose
I guess the real purpose of this is to keep myself and others updated on changes to my websites... Yesterday I finally got the website published for the Tampa Bay Suncoast Sooners alumni group. Unfortunately our schedules (and game travels) never quite allowed us to meet up for the watch-parties last year, but we plan on making as many games as possible this year. Boomer Sooner!

Last week I got the 15 Minutes of Fame site up on Wholly Matrimony! It's something I've been promising people I'd finish forever...and I set aside some "down time" to wrap it up... The "Best Wedding Dress Websites" got its 30th site last week, too -- it's about darn time since the 2001 Dress Contest launches in October!

Brian and Delara sent more wedding photos just in time for their second anniversary (best wishes NaNa's!)...so you can see those here...
And I also added a few new photos of our first house from July and August. We closed on June 22nd -- and so far, it's been bliss being a homeowner!

Everyone else is doing it...

Everyone else is doing it...so I should too? I'm horrible at journals and diaries. Simply awful. I have the best intentions when I start out...but constantly forget about them after awhile...so we'll see how this goes. My life is just so, so, boring. Hopefully this won't quickly deteriorate into a series of, "Well I painted my toenails today..." We'll see. But oh yeah, welcome to "I ain't too proud to blog"!
