Monday, March 3, 2003 You like me...you really, really like me!  I was a little too preoccupied with other things last month to even do any campaigning, but it appears tampatantrum.com has won the "nudist with a cause" category of the Nude Weblog Awards. How to PISS ROBYN OFF for $1000, Alex Yesterday, I linked to this site because its owner wrote and asked if we'd all like to participate (cash prizes of $500 to $2000 each month for the winners). I'm not about joining the soft porn biz. I'm about the charity. So I politely declined and wrote him back saying so, and let him know I'd put a link on his site if others would like to participate. I thought that was that. NOT. I woke up today to find out the fucker that owns it SIGNED ME UP (without my consent or permission) to be in his affiliate program. I was e-mailed a "welcome to our affiliate program" note with login and password. HELLO?!? You do NOT sign me up for an affiliate program -- especially of that nature -- without my permission. And when I logged in to cancel, you can't cancel your membership through the interface. You have to e-mail him with questions. His lame-ass excuse in another e-mail I found buried in the inbox was "well I thought you could give the proceeds to charity". Again, HELLO?!? Shouldn't that be MY decision, McFly? 'Cause the whole world loves it when you don't get down I just updated the donor's page again, and we're only $255.90 away from our ultimate goal with just under 36 hours left to go. We can do eeeeeet! (And we're only $114.90 away from at least being able to donate a cool grand to charity.) We have now raised $1244.10 since late last Tuesday night, $885.10 of which goes to a breast cancer charity. Don't let us down -- we've helped keep you up for over a week now! Accounting Ok, I finally called and got a real-live person today at the Susan G. Komen Foundation! I had the name slightly wrong -- I spoke with Kelly Puritz (1-800-462-9273, direct line 972-855-1630). She has passed my message along to someone named "Lindsey" to see if there's any way to specifically register in case anyone wants to check and see that the money will be going where we say it is going next week. They're also going to discuss if they can try and e-mail me something to that effect, so if I do receive something of that nature, it will be posted immediately of course. They also said that once the donation is made, I'll receive a written proof of donation -- and anyone is welcome to check up about a donation made by me after the fact as well. So if anyone has any questions, just give me a yell! But I've finally talked with someone there live, instead of via their voicemail... Komen Foundation again earlier this afternoon. And once again, I got voicemail. If you'd like to check up on me the number to call is 1-800-462-9273, and the person I'm trying to speak with (I believe, she talked fast on voicemail -- people when you leave an outgoing message, please talk s.l.o.w.l.y.) is Kelly Turret. So that's where things are at right now. A smashing success, dahlings! I'm happy to report that we've just booked Statia's airline ticket -- we found it for $40 less through our travel agent over the phone (Traveler's Advantage) than anyone had found today surfing online. She flies in early on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 27th -- and back home again early on the evening of Monday, December 2nd. The ticket was $309, and a total of $359 after airport taxes and fees. I have updated the donations page to reflect the cost of the ticket subtracted from the rest of the donations which will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Since Tuesday night we have raised $1029.10 total -- and a whopping $670.10 for charity! Another special thanks goes out to Hosting Matters. Not only have they donated the bandwidth for this campaign, they also just gave the donation that finally pushed us above the $1K mark. Who says bloggers can't make a difference? If you haven't had a chance to donate yet, I'll still be taking your hard-earned money through Friday night. Thanks again for all of the support everyone.
