You've just gotta get this look
How to tell your husband turned 29 the day before, and you're just about to follow him...

The new Old Navy "low ride" jeans commercial that just came on makes me cringe. How much lower can they make these things and still have a crotch in them? For someone with good ol' American-style birthin' hips like myself -- I don't care if I'm at a size 6 or a size 12 -- there's no way my figure would have fit in those things since the day I hit 18 (even when I was in college). And at 5'10" their "it's gotta be a mini" campaign made me cringe as well. My butt cheeks would have so been hanging out of those things. Thank goodness for J. Crew and Ann Taylor. I may not buy often, but when I do, at least they keep me sane.

I'm also really thankful I don't have a junior-high age-daughter at this point in fashion. How on earth do their parents send them to school each day without them looking like they should be on the street corner (not just waiting for the school bus). It's no wonder NBC Nightly News just did a segment on this. Looking at the commercials on TV now that are targeted towards that age group, I can't imagine fighting that daily battle with my child! Much less saying, "No you can't have the Angel Slut or Route 69 shirt."
