A year's supply of Turtle Wax

Looking at the money board this afternoon, you will see that we have cracked the $250 $525 barrier. Thanks again to everyone who has donated -- be it with their cash, or their verbal and written support! All are appreciated equally! We've just about got enough to get a coach ticket here folks.

Give 'til it hurts. Elvis would have wanted it that way.

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

This is wonderful! I wish I could send some $'s your way to help out. I hope you all have a great time!

I think this is a really great thing for everyone to help out in getting friends together to celebrate a milestone event. Only wish I could be there!

woohoo! way to go:) man, you must be some major marketer. i've been trying to raise money to sponsor an old dog at a no-kill shelter who needs special medications and it's taken me weeks to reach the $200 mark. maybe i need to have a little robyn magic! hehe.

anyway, way to go. i hope you'll have a fabulous 30th birthday!

Hey, how much is a coach ticket? If ya get close enough, I will kick in the rest.

[Note: I'm not a nice guy. I am just building up goodwill for when I turn around and beg for money for my daughter's Student Ambassador trip to Europe next year. Remember that. Not. Nice. Mercenary. Give till it hurts. (I'm serious about the plane ticket...get it into the reasonable range people, and it's a done deal.)]

Aw hell...so much for super-generosity chances. I just got on Travelocity and a flight that leaves 11/27 and returns 12/1 from Philly to Tampa is only $183... (and, no, I'm not gonna fill in the gap to first class, sorry).

So far the cheapest I've found on a guaranteed airline is $324 roundtrip going out of Baltimore -- instead of Philadelphia -- to Tampa on Southwest and returning on Monday morning (no Sunday flights available). Hotwire is showing $295 a ticket now from Philly to Tampa with the Monday return, but won't tell you the airline and won't promise that rate unless you book immediately. For a Sunday return using Hotwire, that jumps to $670. American is a joke, showing $1079.00 for coach!

There's always Priceline, too -- but you have to book right then with your bid, and again the airlines aren't guaranteed. But that's definitely a possbility depending on how much we end up with.

I didn't look at all the details, but just put in a quick Travelocity check. Will check more later...

This was literally the only return I got back on Travelocity for those dates for $380.00 split between US Airways and crappy AirTran.

Statia just found this one -- getting better!

since robyn said i could, here is some information about Ginger (an old dog) who needs sponsorship at Pets Alive (a no-kill animal shelter). Ginger was taken to the shelter because she was too old to play and needed too much special care. she has lived happily at pets alive for many years but in her age she needs special medication. Pets Alive functions because of people who sponsor their animals. Ginger really needs a sponsor and All Things Girl has begun fundraising to sponsor Ginger for a full year (at least). for more info, please visit Ginger's page. or, go directly to Pets Alive and perhaps sponsor or even adopt any one of the adorable critters they have. every little bit counts!

(and a huge thank you to robyn for letting me babble on like this. robyn, edit as you please. i tend to be rather verbose)

I'll pitch in with Solonor on the "make up the diff" bid.

I swear it was $183 on Northwest via Detroit...but it's gone now. pooh.

Hey, it's $273.50 on US Air, if she flies into Orlando... I could probably arrange a ride, since I'm off that week...

¤ ¤ credit: Solonor | 11.07.02 at 08:38 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Yeah, I'm SURE you could arrange a "ride" Solonor. Yeah honey, I'm just gonna get some milk from the *cough* milk pillows *cough* STORE! Be back in 3 days.

What??? That accusation was uncalled for.

heh.

OK, how flexible is she, then? :)

I meant in travel dates, sicko! 'cause a trip that leaves Tues and goes back Mon is only $285.

¤ ¤ credit: Solonor | 11.07.02 at 09:23 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Heh, you said "flexible"...

She only has one day's vacation left to take this year -- which would either mean a Wed-Sun trip (which she would prefer) or a Thurs-Mon trip (meaning travelling and airports on the actual holiday and my birthday).

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 11.07.02 at 09:30 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Just a quick reminder to everyone -- don't forget taxes, airport taxes, airport surcharges, Florida resort fees, and all the other little nasty nickle and dimes they like to slam you with for choosing to visit the Sunshine State. (We don't have state income taxes -- that's where we make our $$$.) If you find "$269", you've gotta round-up accordingly.

And I was just telling Jason, if we get over what we actually need -- we will give everyone who's donated the option of having their percentage of the leftovers back, or a lump-sum going to charity. We're not trying to profit here. Just wanna share the boobies!

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 11.07.02 at 09:35 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Dude! I think *I* should be your charity - you can fly me there TOO! ;-)
