'Cuz I can't be your Superman...
Remember when the news broke about the upcoming "Batman vs. Superman" movie not too long ago? Michele even set up a casting couch and one of the names feared both by me, and her site visitors, was Matt Damon. Looks like for good reason. Here's the short list from an article in Entertainment Weekly:

Matt Damon, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, James Franco, Jude Law, and Paul Walker

It's funny Colin Farrell's name was mentioned -- because that was actually one of my suggestions to Todd (after seeing "Minority Report"). He blew me off at the time saying Colin was too short, and instead offered up Brendan Fraser's name. Yes, my eyes physically rolled into the back of my head. But I'd much rather see Colin cast in one of the roles, vertically challenged or not, than Matt Damon and/or Johnny Depp. At least we can all thank our lucky stars that the idea of Nicolas Cage as Superman was scrapped...for good... I wish Hollywood passed out the crack they're smoking more often!

To quote Eminem, "Superman ain't savin' shit."

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

I don't know who half of those people are, actually.. but out of those I do know, I'd have to pick Matt Damon, I guess. Although, I still think the idea of Batman vs Superman is just a wee bit surreal... not that superheros aren't to begin with.

How about they pick someone who can a) act and b) actually has some meat to him? These bony pansy-asses can't pass for Superman, Christopher Reeves was pretty buff in his day. Even Dean Cain bulked up for the role. Dare I say it, AFFLECK would be a better choice than these guys if he wasn't naturally a pole smoker!

Yeah,I go with Jesse on this one !

ok, i have a fairly cool thought... how about dwayne johnson (the rock) and vin diesel as batman and superman? nahhh, that's never go; not in hollywood, anyways. neither of 'em are white....

but they're definitely big/athletic enough to be convincing in the roles, no?

I just don't want to think about the shitty sequels something like that is bound to generate. After they made Michael Keaton Batman, I quickly lost interest (or gave up hope) in the superhero movie thing altogether. Although I hear Ang Lee has re-made the Hulk, so we'll have to see...

i think johnny depp would be good as the mad hatter, or maybe even the joker. david duchovny has the smartass to be batman. and superman has to be kinda naive, but he doesn't have to be huge. have you seen the new dead zone series? what about that guy? angelina jolie with curls as catwoman. and harley's tea leone.

"That guy" Tanya is speaking of in The Dead Zone is Farmer Ted from Sixteen Candles. Yes, Anthony Michael Hall has become A Man.

says they've narrowed it down to the 2 people. I'm not sure about the casting, but it should be interesting.

I rather enjoyed Michael Keaton as Batman, he pulled off the darkness of the character perfectly. Whoever casted Clooney should be pimp-slapped and locked away. I'm a Val Kilmer fan, and I thought he did pretty well, but I don't think his remorseful, thoughtful Batman would go well with this movie, this Batman needs more agression. I agree that The Rock would be good, but as you said he's not white, and well, Bruce Wayne is. I think Duchovny would make a horrible Batman, his deadpan way of doing things isn't right for the part.

Ya, I have to agree - Timothy Dalton was my favorite Bond too!

C.C., although I think Jude Law is an excellent actor -- in no way will I ever see him as Superman. He needs to hit the Weight Gain 2000, and the gym, as of yesterday... We shall see -- whether we want to or not -- I guess.

Hrm, none of those names really strikes a match with me as far as either Superman OR Batman. The closest so far, in my opinion, was someone's suggestion of Vin Diesel. But he lacks the naivete of Superman and the sophistication of Bruce Wayne. The Rock should absolutely not be given a role in this movie - he lacks the acting talent to carry even a bit part. (No offense to you wrestling fans who enjoy poor acting :) Brendan Fraser?!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh yeah, and HAHA! No. :)

Hrm, pondering other possibilities ... not to typecast a talented actor, but Hugh Jackman's portrayal of Wolverine in X-men puts him as a very good possibility for Batman in my book. He can pull the sophisticated millionaire and the smoldering vengeance bits off very well. Another possibility I could throw out is Russell Crowe. I'm not particularly a big fan, but he has the muscles and and can play sophistication or naivete fairly well. Bruce Willis would make a GREAT older Batman, but I imagine the movie is taking them more in their prime... actually, Anthony Hopkins would make the best older Batman. Maybe if Antonio Banderas could lose his accent, he could pull off a decent Batman. I'm still at a loss for Superman, though - the closest I can come is Kevin Spacey for the naivete, but he's just not macho enough. Hrmph. I give up for now ;)

I agree with you about Jude Law, but I said the same thing about Tobey McGuire when they cast him as Spiderman and I thought he did a hell of a job.

Back a while ago before this project Nick Cage's name kept getting thrown around for Superman and although I like the guy I laughed out of control everytime I heard that.

I don't know. We shall see I guess....

I think the difference with casting Tobey in my mind though is that Spider-Man/Peter Parker has always been a geek-turned-unlikely superhero. Whereas Clark Kent (at least in the movies, don't know my comic history) played high school football and was more athletic/built to begin with. Jude Law and "man of steel" don't yet equal four in my brain...

FRIG FRIG FRIG!

When that news came out I specifically used Paul Walker as an example of what would be poor casting. The frigging guy CAN'T ACT. Not even a little. Has nobody watched The Fast and the Furious? Dangit.

Matt Damon?

.. my pills .. someone pass me my heart pills ..
