Eww, it's full of crap! Whare are we testing in these poor creatures, that they're sick or something?? If I gave my HOUSECAT a popsicle laced with poo, my furniture would be shredded so fast it wouldn't be funny.

The reason would be - the smell means "oooo yummy animal to chase and attack and kill and devour." Dung = spoor = tracking = pounce.

Other animals do not have the human fastidiousness when it comes to dung. But then, neither do humans until we train them out of it, as parents of young children have probably noticed... :)
