Oh, snap! Guess what I saw...
I'm a very happy girl. Somehow I managed to snag the very last Lomographic Holga Medium Format Camera Starter Kit in stock on Amazon and it shipped today. I had an affiliate credit from WM!'s last quarter so I ended up paying less than $10 total for it. It's a great deal though -- the kit includes the camera (with built-in flash), a photo book by Fred Lebain, 1 roll of film, and 2 AA batteries. It uses medium-format film in color and b&w. Amazon is currently out of stock (thanks to me - mwah!), but the site allows you to pre-order and says more will be in stock soon. At $56.99, that's about a 1/3 of the price of the Lomo Kompakt Automat. You can even find them on eBay for less than that. Click here to view Holga galleries linked from Holga Camera Photo. See, I told you I'd use the new domain if I bought it!

UPDATE: Babz just passed along two great links to go with my new aquisition: toycamera.com and holgamods.com    Check out some of her photography here.

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

Babzola loves her Holga - and has made some mods to it so it can shoot 35mm film... check out the pics @ http://babz.datasoup.com

Mmm, I dunno,.... Russian cameras, Chinese cameras... I think this calls for a serious Department of Homeland Security investigation!

I mean,... it's one thing that us pesky locals in Europe use these little buggers, but for all you know they can turn out to be veritable CAMERAS OF MASS DESTRUCTION! ;-)

Lucky you! I can't afford a car anymore and I live in a cardboard box along the side of the highway, together with 64 other pesky locals, ever since the US invasion of The Hague! ;-)

I did medium format years ago, and it was waaaaaaay too much of a pain in the butt for the results. So I went the other way, found a Minolta 110 Zoom camera, and used that for fun. Amusingly, the 110 format is very similar in size to the APS Advantix film Kodak pushes these days. What's old is new again.

If you want some real fun, find yourself a Pentax 110 system. 110 film, and the camera has _interchangeable lenses_, the only 110 that can do that.

FYI, many Holgas can be had at Adorama.com. At only $29.95 for the ones with a Flash, or $19.95 for the ones without. Personally, I want the no-flash version myself. Now I just have to wait for Rannie to send me mine.

By the way, photo forums with tips & tricks for the Holga, Diana, Lubitel (I *heart* my Lubitel), Lomo and more at the Photojunkie Forums.

The slightly higher price at Amazon.com includes a "starter kit". I wanted the book, too -- since it cost me under $10 for the entire thing with a credit I already had. (I wanted the one with a flash since my Lomo doesn't have one.) Thanks for the Adorama.com link! And I already have the PJ forums bookmarked -- they are *great*!

you can pick up a holga at your local walmart for as little as 12 bucks, a flash for about 25. i hope that book was worth it ;-) anyway, i've ordered from adorama maybe half-a-dozen times and have had such great experiences that i'm always willing to plug for them.

Hello -- I had an Amazon credit. I got it all -- including book, batteries and film -- for less than $10. And they certainly don't carry them at our Wal Mart! Consider yourself lucky!
