Insert grumbling voices here
Our DSL is still down, with no end in sight. We're finding out Verizon's DSL service is really great if you manage to stay online -- but if something goes wrong, fuhgetaboutit. They can't provide any service updates. They can't give ETA on the end of the outage. They can't even tell us how widespread it is, other than "two or three area codes in your area". We were s'posed to have a callback within the first 36 hours and we've been down since Friday night. Greeeeeat. This ought to set my schedule back a good week now. We only have a network card on the PC, and I have no way of transferring any of my files or mail from there to here. We're SO getting a discount on this month's bill!

Man, that sucks. One time when we went down (heh heh), they told me it was going to be a WEEK before they could get anyone out. Needless to say I called them multiple times until I got a helpful person and they had someone out the next day.

One thing I've noted with Verizon is that their customer service is wonderful when you press them. I've only had 1 outtage and it lasted a week before they sent a rep out to the house. He ended up replacing the phone junction box on the outside of the house and I ended up getting a MUCH faster download speed than I pay for. On top of that, they gave me two months credit on my bill.

Call and pester until you find a good service rep. It's true, the squeaky wheel get's the oil. My squeak earned one helluva lube job, apparently.

I'll second (or third, or whatever) that. Bug the piss out of them. If you dont hear what you want to hear, demand to speak to a supervisor. They'll eventually help you just to shut you up. It sucks to have to make a nuisance of yourself, but it usually works.

Jason, we didn't have a choice -- when we moved to this neighborhood the only high-speed connections available were Earthlink and Verizon DSL. We'd been Road Runner subscribers the two years previous, and had hoped to use it again...but alas...we found this out after we'd bought the house.

And believe me, we've been on top of this. Todd spent at least 4 hours total on the phone with them Saturday and Sunday. They still weren't able to tell us anything. We escalated to the level of support where they didn't answer their phones and we got a "don't call us, we'll call you back" level. In other words "we don't know" and "we don't care".

*knock on plastic* I think we're finally back online though!

I hate Verizon! We tried to use it before cable was in town and for 6 weeks we got the runaround as to why it didn't work. I could surf and get email, but I couldn't send email or fill out forms online, etc. They even sent a tech to the house and they still couldn't figure it out. What a frigging nightmare.

Ugh....when we first got Verizon about 4 years ago - well, it was still BellAtlantic, then - it sucked ass....if the wind was going at more than 2mph, it went out. Once they got all the bugs worked out it was great though. Then when verizion did take over, they started making changes and totally screwed it up for a long time. We seem to be in good shape these days but when it does go down, it's always on a Friday and no one can tell us anything till Monday......
