And since we've no place to go...

[Ponca City Snowfall]

When my family whines again that we should just leave sunny Florida and move back home, I'm pointing them right back towards the above photo and news story. Ponca City is the town I grew up in and graduated high school from. Snow like that CRIPPLES small Oklahoma towns. They aren't going anywhere for awhile. "The cold front that spilled across the state Sunday pushed wind chills well below zero and set a record low maximum Monday for Oklahoma City. Tulsa’s [snowfall] total so far has exceeded Chicago’s snowfall this year by more than 3 inches. Clouds, very cold temperatures and a chance for more snow are forecast across Oklahoma the next several days." There's no place like home...in the fall!

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

*Knocks on wood* Yaknow, we've been rather lucky this year. At least regarding snow. It's been colder than a polar bear's nose here for a good portion of the winter, but still, snow wise, we've been good.

Perhaps I should continue knocking on wood until April :)

Yep, stuck here in Tulsa with 12 inches
Not fun - entire town shuts down.
Schools out/daycares out
everyone has to call in -- such fun :( NOT
I'd rather be in sunny Florida!

Not too much snow in Oklahoma City...yet...but it only got up to 15 degrees yesterday instead of the normal 55. Too cold! And snow is expected every other day thru Sunday! Stay in Florida...right not it's a much better place!

I hear you. Every time I start aching to leave backwards little ol' Louisiana and live in Boston or Chicago or NYC for a while, I remember that it doesn't snow here and a "cold" day usually just means wearing a sweatshirt.

*it also helps that our house would cost 3 times what we paid for it in any of those places.

As Ponca City native, still living in OK - (in Tulsa) - I can tell you that this snow storm has not been a lot of fun! We've had power outtages, and lives lost due to accidents, slips, and hypothermia. Since we "Okies" don't get a lot of snow, I believe that half of the population forgets how to drive on it and the other half forgets how to prepare for it. It has been a real challenge! Oh what I wouldn't do to be in sunny Florida right now!

I *LOVE* snow! I can't believe it starts snowing like that only a couple of years after I move away. *grumble*

Yeppers... we down here in Noble/Norman got about 1/8 of an inch... gads!

I love the snow! It kicks ass! The only things I hate about it are the people who forget you need to drive slow in it. But I avoid that by being able to drive in snow when most normal cars can't or shouldn't. And if I'm lucky I'll make a quick $20 pulling someone out of a snow bank.

Not Fair!!! That's our snow!!! In SD we haven't gotten more than 2" at a time all year. Just doesn't seem right! I feel for the snowmobilers. They keep trying to ride on a 1/2 inch of snow.
