Don't go for second best, baby
Slant Magazine has counted down the 100 greatest music videos. Some, I can see...but five Madonna videos in the top twenty? C'mon. I'm living in a material world, and I am a material girl -- but even I will admit that's a bit much!

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

that really IS a whole lot of the material girl.

A-Ha deserves to be there. But where oh where is my Kajagoogoo? "o,oh, you're to shy, shy, hush, hushhhhhhhhhhhh"

Actually, Peter Gabriel Sledgehammer should be in the top 20.

Smashing Pumpkins' "Tonight Tonight" is number 57, below Blind Melon's "No Rain"?! What a crock. "Tonight Tonight" should at least be in the top 20.

Sledgehammer should be in the top ten, definitely. I want to know, though, why "Love is a Battlefield" is on that list. That video is so lame! Was cheese one of the criteria used in determining this?

Daft Punk should have been higher, especially the one with Charlie the Dog Boy. Weezer's Buddy Holly should have been higher, too. (No, I'm not trying to suck up to Robyn, either *g*). It's the way they so seamlessly mixed the Happy Days clips with the clips of themselves performing at Arnolds. I mean, it was hard to tell that Weezer was added in there.

One that I feel is a glaring omission is "Need You Tonight/Mediate".

And where was Duran Duran? Especially "Hungry Like the Wolf", the video attributed to starting the whole "mini-movie" concept in music videos?

Yah I agree, Madonna isn't that good!

Are they kidding? No "Weapon of Choice"? Christopher Walken's unbelievable dance number isn't in the top 100? Well sure, they had to make room for 2 Daft Punk videos.

Wankers.

P.S. "Buddy Holly" has got to be one of my all-time favorite videos.

Well, a good *video* is not the same as a good song.

I mean, Kajagoogoo kicked ass - one hit wonders that they were, but the video was lame.

It was.

Madonna's videos are always really nicely done - so while I am not a Madonna fan, I think she deseves it.
