Posted: 11.18.2002 Donations closed!
The donations for this year are officially closed so I can pay Susan G. Komen when I get back up again tomorrow. I also donated the last few cents to round it up to an even number -- so the grand total of tomorrow's donation will be $1251.00! Of course I'll post an entry-update when the donation has been made for those who wish to check up on it. In the spot of the donation site where I previously took PayPal transactions, I now have a link to the Susan G. Komen donations page instead.
Now here's how blonde I am... I never gave it a second thought that my PayPal account is a "premier account". Until I checked my balance last night that is to see what was "my" money vs. Susan G. Komen's money. Then it dawned on me that I was charged by PayPal for every single donation made (standard rate of 2.9% + $.30 per transaction). Meaning I'm out roughly an additional $64.47 out of pocket to bring the amount PayPal gave me up even with what was actually donated. Now when you're on one income with the holidays fast-approaching, that's a big chunk o' change. And I'm not listing that as a "donation" because I don't want to then turn around and take it away again from the total raised for Komen. I'm just going to eat the cost out of my own additional funds as a labor of love. So if anyone has a problem with what I've done over the last few weeks, I suggest you take it up with my accountant. I'm pretty sure her reply will be "bite me".  Thanks again to everyone who has linked, sent notes of support, submitted photographs, and donated!
