Faking fall

After a trip to Pier 1, Eastern Standard Time is just a wee bit easier to deal with. The only way we can recreate "autumn" here in the Sunshine State is by sense of smell. Tomorrow's forecast is 87° and muggy. Sigh. Now winter...you can keep that to yourselves, thank you very much. But I'd love to see the turning leaves and actually need a sweatshirt right about now.

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

I have a feeling that I'd be a bit more comfy in your muggy weather - the next two nights are supposed to get down to 25 already! Isn't that crazy?! *definately* time to pull more blankets off the couch downstairs and throw them on the bed!

Ouch! Do you cripple up as much as I do when it gets cold? We were in the upper 50s at night a couple of weeks ago for 2 nights, and I could barely walk... I think 25 would kill me!

Ew, you can have the cold. Unless someone finds me a new spine on eBay, it's going to be another miserable arthritic winter for me! I can collect some purty leaves for you if you want though...

What I wouldn't do for 87 degree weather. Our high today is 5 degrees Celsius, our low will be hitting the minuses [in Celsius that is.]

You should come visit, supposedly it's snowing in the panhandle... but we know what a freakish place that is!

I've got plenty of extra fall for you over here. It's 43 degrees and it's been raining all day. Anytime you want some, just let me know.

The forcast for saturday is 36 degrees with flurries.

I live in Vegas so I know all about "faking fall". Here is one way to make your house smell REALLY good and autumn like without candles.

in a small saucepan add:

1 cup hot water
1 tspn whole cloves
1 whole nutmeg (or 2 tspn ground nutmeg
4 cinnamon sticks
[optional: a little grated orange peel]

Bring to a boil and then turn stove off OR simmer on low [be careful not to let it sit too long or the water will evaporate and the spices will stick to the pan! I've done this a few times. Oops!]

Ooops...that recipe was from me.
