The first time I had it done, I had it done at a salon and they were just Redken dyes mixed to the bubblegum pink and hot pink. But I watched how she did it, and all of the touchups then (and the dye now) have been done with Manic Panic. I buy it online through beWild.com, and I use Cotton Candy Pink, Hot Hot Pink, and sometimes just a touch of Lilac.

It's hard to read because of the background, but the Manic Panic official site has a really good "how to dye" FAQ for first-timers. And I didn't realize it 'til just now, but Manic Panic makes several shades that will glow under black light as well, including the Hot Hot Pink that I use!

I think one of the best things about it is the fact the dye is semi-permanent and all-natural -- so you don't have to inhale all the chemicals while you dye (and since you have CFS, Kristine, that's a big plus). And if your hair is already colored or permed, there are no chemicals in it to do further damage. Wow -- they didn't even pay me to say all this! ;-)

oooo pretty. i've been wanting to put red streaks in my hair, but i hesitate for two reasons - 1. my hair is very dark, and i'm not even sure it would show and 2. i'm not sure how potential employers would react! :)

great color, Robyn! i had blond highlights before but after a few washings, they turned green (my hair is naturally brown/black). so i've just stuck with dying it brown (currently Revlon Colorstay light golden brown... not exactly golden, but definitely not black anymore!)

And I thought, before I clicked, that Christine's hair was truly purple! HA! That would have been great... I've been thinking of going black with indigo blue tips this week. The hair appointment is on Wednesday, so we'll see... ;-p

Sorry I missed it the first time around. My own curls have been pink for about 7 months, although I straighten them waaay too much. I personally recommend Raw Color myself, I feel that it lasts longer.
