A new World order
The Daypop Top 40 has a link to "The New World Trade Center 2002", and most of the reviews of the design seem to be positive. But the first thing that popped into my mind when seeing it was "sticks of dynamite" and the thought of that gave me the willies. Is it just me? (For more info visit the New World Trade Center 2002 site.)

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

i don't like it. i really don't think i'd like anything there though. i'm not sure what they should do with the space.

Yes,same here ! I couldn't help but think about it happening all over again.I know that they built it in a way just in case it does,I just really hope that it doesn't.But it does look great.

What I find most disturbing about the site it the theme from Twin Peaks playing in the background. Makes me really wonder about the validity of the site or wether or not I want people using music from a David Lynch series building a major metropolitan structure.

Ok I am not sure if I like that building. But I can say that I think they should build something there. Show the world we are not afraid. I know many other NYers (myself being a former) felt that the best tribute we can give to those who were lost that day is to re-build the towers big stronger & taller. Having lived in NY my entire life the Twin Towers were always a part of my life. Hell Michael walked through those building atleast twice a day every day for years. He had friends there, clients there. I at one point came with in seconds of accepting a posistion to work there (but something better for me came along). Any number of scenrios could have put Michael or I, or both of us there that day. Hell we were there not long before September 11th. I want to see something built. I don't want to see 10 small buildings in it's place. I want to see something spectacular built there. Something that will show the world NY will not hide from what happened but will also always remember that day.

Wow, those plans look amazing. I definitely agree with Lynn that *something* should be built there. It's a fitting tribute to show the world that we will continue to stand.

Ok, I agree, the music is creepy. I was there after the fact and it gives me the chills just thinking about it. I'm not sure what I think. I agree that it does look like sticks of dynamite. But is that 111 floors total, or in each building?? If so, have they not learned?

Given how it towers over the surrounding structures in the demo, I'm guessing 111 floors in each building.

how on earth are they going to be able to lease the space? would anyone you know feel comfortable working there? talk about a daily reminder!

not a fan of the design...but hey, i'm no architect. something should go there. absolutely. i was hoping they'd make the area into a nice park area. i know they have central park...but i just like a little nature mixed in.

You're right, it does look like sticks of dynamite, with an all too small roof on top. The one thing that I'm curious about is the actual structural design. Sure, they can't just go posting it, cause it could lead to someone finding a flaw in it, but my concern is that the original towers were supposed to be the strongest things ever built. So, they weren't, but they were damned closed to being unshakeable. How unshakeable will this thing be?

And, yes. That music is quite creepy...

I like the design very much.

Ok... this sounds really bad but the first ting I thought when I saw it is, "... are those bands supposed to keep it from falling down if something hits it?" Of course, the rational part of my mind took over quickly but....

Where are the anti-aircraft guns?

Oh my, it does look like sticks of dynamyte. I say, let's just take the concept and use it as a prop in SimCity. Nobody really is gonna want to go up in a big stick of dynamite building!!!!!

I'm with you Robyn. Awful design. It looks like it's designed to blow itself up if someone attempts to knock it down again. Very poor taste. If they were square instead of round I'd be happier with it. I have had a good look around the site though and it seems safety has become a top priority, so I'm taking safety over look for those that work inside. Will be interesting to see what happens. Oh, and why is the theme to Twin Peaks playing while I'm viewing the page??? Eerie, oh and copyrighted.

Batteries. It looks like 4 AAA batteries to me!

I was studying it and it looked like 111 each to me too, but I thought maybe I was just seeing things. I can't even imagine that people will be lining up around the corner to be leasing this space. It's like a double edged sword. It's valuable space in the city. However, it seems like sacred ground.

Who needs anti-aircraft guns when Special Agent Dale Cooper is obviously on the job. That is if he's escaped from the Black Lodge by now...

Not only *should* they build something else at the site, they almost *have* to..in response to lor, if they built a park, they woulnd't be replacing all that office space that was lost and that will put a lot of businesses out forever.

But I really don't like what they're putting there..it's kind of too funky-looking for me.
