Girl power
For Michele:

[I am not a feminist]

Poster and postcards available from "one angry girl".

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

Awww yea. That's what I'm talking about!

But I would still be happy to make you coffee.

Make it a Cherry 7-Up and we're on! ;-)

Maybe I'm being overly literal and serious here, but I don't really get the point of the poster. "I'm not a feminist, but I appreciate all of these feminist values?" I always wonder about women who say they're not feminists...what does that make them?

Lest we forget, feminism is merely "belief in the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes." Why would any woman claim not to be one of those?

I don't believe we're "equal". I believe that we should have equality for equal achievement in several areas of life (such as pay). But I also believe each sex has its weaknesses and strengths -- hardly making us equals -- and quite frankly, I'm glad for them. (I say this after having 3 years of collegiate-level feminism and womyn's studies courses under my belt.) I am not a feminist. I do, however, believe in several feminist ideals. Just as I believe in the death penalty, but that doesn't make me a Republican.

I don't believe we are equal, either. Robyn said it very well.

I don't appreciate "all feminist values." There are some things inherent to feminism that I just don't buy.

What does that make me? It makes me someone who likes that she can choose her career path, and who has the ability to be comfortable with whatever direction that path takes, even if it's "barefoot and pregnant."

And I don't even mind being the coffee-maker in the office.

Being the office coffee-maker usually means you get a decent cup of coffee for once. At least, that's what I found out.

Exactly, Andrea. That's why I wouldn't have it any other way.
