Ain't no lie - bye, bye, bye
What is up with the NCAA coaches lately? First you've got the Iowa State fiasco -- two separate events involving two basketball coaches. (The head coach is on the verge of being fired for excessive drinking and photos with young women -- and an assistant coach forced to quit after child porn charges.). Then you've got the new, "never even coached a game yet" Bama football coach scenario, which is looking more and more like a job termination situation every day. Do these people not realize, like it or not, they do live in a fishbowl? And to put that kind of stuff on the university's credit card is just...beyond dumb.

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

I STILL love my school, but this guy is beyond stupid. He and Dubose can shack up together... that's all I've got to say! heh.

I feel sorry for all the kids that stuck by the program, thick and thin. Franchione convinced them all to stay before last season, even when on probation, when they could have went elsewhere without NCAA penalty. They did so out of loyalty to the program -- and him -- and then he takes off without even the courtesy of a reach-around before he was out the do'. Didn't even say goodbye... Then they bring in this guy, and that's how he treats your program. And the players loyal to it. It's just beyond disgusting. Bama -- as a program -- and especially its players -- deserves more than that.

i actually know the (former) iowa state basketball coach.

what's not mentioned in the story is that he's lost 3 daughters (all before the age of five) to a rare disease - but what he is accused of is still inexcuseable.

To be honest, I think in light of his public admission and apology -- that Eustachy at most should be given a suspension and loss of pay. What he did might be "embarrassing" for the University, but it's not the disgrace of, say, Brown's child porn charges (who should be outta there). As long as he seeks and receives treatment, I would give him another chance.

Now Mike Price...putting it on University credit cards...whole 'nuther ballgame altogether, IMHO. Nudity and prostitution were involved. SO MUCH more than just mere pecks on the cheek with young girls.

Eustachy should keep his job, at least he came out and admitted his problem. The other stories I knew nothing about, I've been too busy breathing a lot easier knowing Illinois has a great coach on board. Ever since Bill Self announced he was going to Kansas, everyone has been worrying about finding someone just as great.

Sounds like you had a great vacation! :)

I totally agree about Franchione. What he did was so disrespectful. Our guys DID deserve better (any team does)! Thanks for what you said... I appreciate that...

I'll remember it too when you're kicking our tail later this year! ;)

I think I'll reserve judgement on coach Price until more reliable details come out about what exactly happened after he left the strip club. Going there and spending a lot of money tipping dancers might make him a dumbass, but I'm not sure that alone warrants firing the guy. If every old married guy who did that while on a business trip lost his job over it, the unemployment rate would be somewhere near 50%. A severe reprimand from the university, the public embarrassment, and all the hell he's going to get from his wife and kids, should just about cover that.

However, if it turns out that there really was prostitution invovled, or even that he brought strippers back to a hotel room being paid for by the university, that's a different story. Right now there's so much rumor and speculation that it's hard to make a judgement.

Either way it's bad for the Bama players. Those kids have been through a lot in the last few years, and none of it is their fault.

Dave, my problem wasn't so much that he went to a strip club -- as it was that he apparently used a University credit card to do so.

And Rome mentioned today on his show that there's also new charges of Coach Price buying alcohol for underage players, which is a whole 'nuther can o' worms.

The story we are hearing is that, yes... he did spend money at the strip club... but that was in cash (like $200). He had private dances but didn't touch anyone.

The other part is that a women that was in the room registered to Price ordered over $1000 worth of food and drinks......to go (ordered on his university credit card). The hotel staff called Coach Price and told him about it (while he was on the golf course). He later showed up and paid the bill... (Incidentally, the hotel did not let her leave with the food).

The question I'm hearing is this, did he have a prostitute (the woman above) stay with him in his "university" paid room? If so, that is the controversy at hand. *shrug*

There are several versions to the story... but this seems to be the most consistent.
