I am the greatest of all time
Ok, let's do a pool right quick...who will be the first actor/actress/nominee to give a self-important, self-serving political speech this evening?

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

And the award for biggest hair goes to... I think he needs more cowbell.

Based on how quickly they started the muzak up when the guys from Lord of the Rings: the Two Towers came up to pick up their Best Visual Effects award, no one is going to have any time to spout anything longer than "No blood for o--!"

hubby is playing "Harry Potter - the video game" and won't let me turn the show on :(

Would that the gods be so merciful as to hear, "And the Oscar goes to... (opening envelope) DAMMIT, that gave me a papercut!"

¤ ¤ credit: Don | 03.23.03 at 09:12 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Well, I don't even think we need to do the pool now -- check out this red carpet statement for our winner! Sigh.

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.23.03 at 09:14 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Attention Julianne Moore ... the little mermaid called and would like her dress back.

¤ ¤ credit: Kathy | 03.23.03 at 09:15 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Oh yeah ... love the "hey check out my panties look"

¤ ¤ credit: Kathy | 03.23.03 at 09:17 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Here's a red carpet statement by a couple that Michele is sure to love.

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.23.03 at 09:18 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

On the Best side -- Mira Sorvino

Love that ...

Did Hillary Swank steal Gwen's wedding dress and have it remade?

¤ ¤ credit: Kathy | 03.23.03 at 09:22 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Most annoying 3 minute advert for the war coverage.... ABC news with Peter Jennings...

¤ ¤ credit: Don | 03.23.03 at 09:23 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

WHAT has happened to Renee Zellweger's face?

¤ ¤ credit: Meredith | 03.23.03 at 09:25 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Here's a photo of Hillary Swank's dress -- looks like it Kathy!

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.23.03 at 09:27 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Did Colene Atwood steal a costume from "Chicago" to wear to the festivities?? outrageous!

¤ ¤ credit: Don | 03.23.03 at 09:28 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Is Jennifer Connelly preggers or is that just a BAD outfit?

¤ ¤ credit: kathy | 03.23.03 at 09:31 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Jennifer is pregnant.

¤ ¤ credit: Susan | 03.23.03 at 09:37 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I think Kate Hudson is getting my best dressed vote ...

¤ ¤ credit: Kathy | 03.23.03 at 09:44 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I just want her skin...it's always flawless.

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.23.03 at 09:46 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

She is amazing! Such a timeless face and demeanor.

¤ ¤ credit: Don | 03.23.03 at 09:51 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Rene, stop with the botox and lose the red wedding dress!!!

¤ ¤ credit: Don | 03.23.03 at 09:52 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

And I'd like Salma Hayek's maracas, please!

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.23.03 at 09:57 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Does anyone hate "Chicago" as much as I do ... ugh.

¤ ¤ credit: Kathy | 03.23.03 at 10:00 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Oh. My. God. I can't tear my eyes away from that pic of Ed & Salma. Separately, they make me swoon. Together, they need to get a restraining order...

¤ ¤ credit: Susan | 03.23.03 at 10:03 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Well we just got our first nominee for "soap box anti-war sentiment"

¤ ¤ credit: Kathy | 03.23.03 at 10:05 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Leave it to a dark horse candidate!

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.23.03 at 10:07 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

The only person that can read the teleprompter worse than Julianne Moorea and J. Pez is Brendan Frasier. You could see his eyes moving left to right as he went through it.

¤ ¤ credit: Don | 03.23.03 at 10:08 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

who who? We had to turn it off because Tivo had other ideas.

¤ ¤ credit: Lisa, Gal of Unix | 03.23.03 at 10:09 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

you guys are cracking me up!

¤ ¤ credit: Camille | 03.23.03 at 10:10 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Lisa, I had to reschedule 'Coupling'... but so far, it is worth it.

¤ ¤ credit: Don | 03.23.03 at 10:15 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Uh oh. Red alert. We are at red alert. Michael Moore is up to the podium...

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.23.03 at 10:16 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

There ya have it. Michael Moore with the political speech!

¤ ¤ credit: Camille | 03.23.03 at 10:18 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Well that was...entertaining?

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.23.03 at 10:18 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

oh my

BOOOOOOOOO

¤ ¤ credit: Don | 03.23.03 at 10:19 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

And the winner is ................ Michael Moore! Yay! Go Michael!

¤ ¤ credit: Kathy | 03.23.03 at 10:19 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

How do you follow THAT act?

Where's Fred Durst when you need him?

¤ ¤ credit: Don | 03.23.03 at 10:20 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Not sure if any of you SAW Bowling for Columbine ... but it was quite "eye-opening" and his little quip was nothing compared to the film.
But the film is very good ... I loved it.

But what did you expect anyway ... At least the value of my signed book just went up.

:)

¤ ¤ credit: Kathy | 03.23.03 at 10:21 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Oh he promised he would speak out if he got the podium -- that's why I took us to red alert. ;-)

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.23.03 at 10:24 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Don: we would have too, but I guess himself with the remote didn't think of that. ;)

¤ ¤ credit: Lisa, Gal of Unix | 03.23.03 at 10:24 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

A Russian czar once asked Geena Davis, "what the hell is up with those glasses?"

¤ ¤ credit: Don | 03.23.03 at 10:37 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

OK, who was the dumbass whose cell phone just went off?

¤ ¤ credit: Don | 03.23.03 at 10:40 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

ROBERT SMITH ... USE ROBOT PUNCH! KILL MECHA-STRAISAND!

¤ ¤ credit: Kathy | 03.23.03 at 10:58 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Eminem winning an Oscar almost makes up for all that Elton John / Sting bullshit we've had to endure the last few years!

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.23.03 at 11:00 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Peter O'Toole is still alive?!?! Huh ... who knew.

¤ ¤ credit: Kathy | 03.23.03 at 11:09 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I said the same thing!

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.23.03 at 11:12 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Uh ... what's the deal with Nic's upper lip ... it's purple in the middle? Like someone punched her in the ladies room?

¤ ¤ credit: Kathy | 03.23.03 at 11:21 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I wish she'd quit doing the "severe" hair thing. It's gorgeous when she just lets it go (straighened or curly), but she's been pulling it back so tight lately -- it's probably splitting that lip.

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.23.03 at 11:23 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I was thinking the same think about Nicole's hair. She looked so... weird. And they didn't seem excited that she had won.

Um, are Ben Affleck and Matt Damon the only people capable of awarding Best Original Screenplay?

¤ ¤ credit: Zuly | 03.23.03 at 11:49 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Well ... How about that best director ...

Also ... we are going to have to hear All That Jazz for days now. Sigh. And all I can think of is the shitty dance I did to that when I was like 11.

¤ ¤ credit: Kathy | 03.23.03 at 11:58 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

It's why I titled my next entry that...that song is burned in my brain now...and I haven't even seen the movie!

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.23.03 at 11:59 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Wait ... did they just finish the show ON TIME? That is NOT possible ... doesn't someone want to protest orsomething?

¤ ¤ credit: Kathy | 03.24.03 at 12:01 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

The Oscars were on tonight and somehow my movie geek hubby missed it??????

¤ ¤ credit: A Different Kathy | 03.24.03 at 12:11 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

"Our" Nic finally won the oscar- Man her hair looks better down but I thought she looked great.

¤ ¤ credit: LisaC | 03.24.03 at 12:55 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

I thought the tune I wouldn't be able to get out of my head would be "All That Jazz," but instead it's that bit of the theme from Gone With the Wind. Excuse me, I'm off to hit myself on the head with a small hammer.

¤ ¤ credit: Andrea Harris | 03.24.03 at 02:41 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

the Oscars ran half an hour over....they were scheduled to be over at 11:30..im pretty sure..

¤ ¤ credit: Ruthie | 03.24.03 at 05:18 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

I think one of my favourite momments was watching Adrien Brody walk up onto stage, and grab Halle Berry in a fierce embrace.

¤ ¤ credit: munin | 03.24.03 at 04:24 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Yay Catherine that's all I have to say (I'm Welsh and I'm proud). Let's face it she looked like a big sexy mamma strutting her stuff with Queen Latifah.

¤ ¤ credit: Sian | 03.24.03 at 07:49 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I am still in shock at the fact that Barbra Streisand had an opportunity to say something completely nutty and didn't - she just read her lines. VERY un-Barbra like.
