And we were there...
[click here to see more] There are times in your life where you've just got to smile and say, "Fuck the flu. Some things are more important." Tonight was one of those nights. When we saw on a 10 p.m. news update that 8,000 strong were already at Raymond James Stadium, it didn't take long to load up the car and head on out. We joined over 25,000 of our closest neighbors for a Super Bowl sized party just off Dale Mabry! Before they landed, the team plane did a low fly-by right over the stadium. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen! And I was behind a police barricade literally 5-feet away from my own personal hero Mr. John Lynch as he went by.

Amazingly, after standing out in 30°ish temps for several hours, I feel better than I have in weeks and I can't wipe this damn smile off my face. I shot over 40 pics -- some good, some not so good. I waded through to find the best ones (14 total), and put them up at a temporary home here. I'll get to the rest tomorrow and reorganize when I can feel my fingers again... Have I mentioned lately that WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL*?!? Happy Monday, everyone! (* we're as in Tampa Bay, not Robyn and Todd, people!)

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

Just thought I'd add a few of my comments about next week's match-up that I just sent to a Raiders fan that e-mailed me (a most polite and respectful note, if I do say so myself) -- here's my take, FWIW:

"You know, I could handle an Oakland loss a million times more than a Philly one. I actually really like and respect the Raiders. They ARE NFL football, as far as I'm concerned. And I've been a Rice fan since I was a kid. Philly was so personal...

...Not to say I wouldn't love winning a Super Bowl -- but we bought the champagne for today and went to see the team this evening for today. This, for all intents and purposes, WAS the Super Bowl for the fans. Next week...that's for the players..."

Congrats! Congrats! Congrats! I'm so happy that Tampa Bay Won!!!!! And I must admit...your unh-huh...was most ladylike! Well done! You didn't lower yourself to Eagles fans standards!

Brilliant! Just one of those things that has to be done. Reminds me of Blackburn Rovers championship win 6 years ago. Against all the odds we did and the whole town was on a high. Everyone went down to Ewood Park (our ground) for an impromtu celebration.

Whenever I'm feeling cruddy, I am amazed to discover that getting out of the house helps make me feel better! That and shopping - Bath & Body Works finally has that sale on the good stuff you mentioned a few weeks ago...

Congratulations on the win. That does indeed sound like a wonderful way to end the evening!

Hehe, congrats to the Bucs ... it was a good game. I'm sorry to have to tell you that I'm rooting for the Raiders though. Hey, I'm from the Bay Area, so I have to go with the locals ... even if they are the Raiders.

The "piratebowl" should be a good game to watch though!

I just want to see "The Revenge of Chuckie" headlines when TB beats the Raiders. Should make for a HELL of a Superbowl! I can't wait!

I'm new to weblogs, and am very glad to see another woman as devoted to a team as I am to the Steelers. I've had a hard time getting back into football since they lost, but it is nice to know a fan that got their team there!

Congrats on going to the Super Bowl. I'm just happy it's not the Broncos so I don't have to listen to the people at work go on about them.

Awesome pics, I shoulda been there too but our whole house was sick too.
Did you see the interview with Gruden where he said he hoped Oakland wins even though Tennessee would be an easier team for us to beat?
If both teams show up to play, I'll predict two things...this will be one of the all time greatest Super Bowls ever, and a team with a pirate mascot will win.

Robyn, those pics are AWESOME!!! Just the antidote I needed after dwelling on some of the meanness I've been seeing around blogs over the weekends. I'm ready for the Bucs to take the Raiders on Sunday!! (God, what an awesome game, too!)

Hey Robyn, COOL, you went to the Stadium Celebration! My husband went and took some pics, which I've post on my site in case you wanna check it out. I swear, we're gonna run into each one of these days!
