I gotta go Saturday night, Saturday night
This was the first evening of the whole Christmas break that we've both felt decent at the same time, so we went to the International Plaza briefly tonight to check out the sales...which were severely lacking. This year Body Shop only had $1 off their Christmas line products, three days after Christmas. What the hell is up with that? This time last year everything was 75% off. No wonder it's the worst retail take in 30 years. Even with a bit of Christmas cash from Santa, about the only place we scored, and bothered spending our money, was at Crane's. (I'm a not-so-secret stationery addict.)

I did get a chuckle at the woman ahead of me in line at the Clinique counter though. She would be me...if I could have children. She had two little white-blonde angels that both reminded me of my own head of hair when I was little. One was just barely walking and the other couldn't have been more than three. They were already getting tutored in cosmetics by mom. Then as she walked off with them, dad, and her purchases in tow she squealed, "Look girls! Shoooooooooes. We must respect the shoes." Todd and I shared an all-knowing smile. And then as we exited the store, we saw the girls were getting their next life-lesson at the Origins shop. Yeah, times like that really remind me how much it sucks that I can't complete the purchase, but still have to pay the monthly bill...

We stopped for BBQ and at Barnes & Noble on the way home, and I picked up the new second edition of this book. (Amazon only lists the first edition at their site.) I'll give a review after I've actually had a chance to read it -- which won't be this weekend -- but the f/stop, shutter speed, ISO, light meter and white balance sections looked very helpful. I'm a complete novice when it comes to that stuff -- and so far I've yet to find the perfect newbie tutorial. Hopefully this will come close.

Now it's back to work for me. Yeah, we're two wild 'n' crazy guys...

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

I thought of you tonight at Targhet (said with the fancy French accent) ... they had the Rudolph bobbleheads on sale for $5! I couldn't resist - the Misfit Dollie is all mine! She truly fit my current mood. They had a ton, so let me know if you need any of them! (Hermey, Dollie, Charlie in the Box, Bumble, Rudolph, Snowman - they had them all!)

Hey dudette............one word.....ADOPT!!! Okay well more than one word........I never did ever stop at one word. But seriously, what about adopting. My cousins (now mom and dad) have had three adopted kids, and all of them were really nice. (one my dad adopted when he was in the army and died as an adult 20 years later, and another was adopted as a 3yo and died of major medical problems at 16) The third adoptee is Stevie my little brother, and I guess unofficially that makes me the fourth adoptee. Well, not legal adoptee but hmmmmmmmmm me getting ideas now. But seriously, it is NOT that expensive, actually cheaper than having a kid in the hospital. Mom and dad always tease that Sarah, their only "home made" child cost over twice as much as all the adoptees! Anyway, think about it!

Off topic as well, but I just noticed the pics at the top of the Mae West skin change to color on rollover. THAT JUST ROCKS!!! What a great idea. I would have never thought of doing that. But then, I'm a construction (functionality) guy, I leave design to the artists.

Glad to hear Todd is doing better. It's a good thing that the Crane's store here is like a jillion miles from our house. I think my wife would take out a second on the house just to have "something for every occassion." ((GROSS!))

I say just stick to the offwhite top fold cards with the gold embossed initials. They work great for everything!

Oh hell yeah the sales were bad. I ran down to hickory farms on thursday and nothing was on sale. Needless to say, I was very disappointed that I couldn't get my big meat and cheese variety for dirt cheap.

Hehe, I don't know if you've checked out my photography column or not (or if you even know about it), but I tried to keep it fairly simple for people who are new to photography. After all, I'm still learning a lot of the stuff. ;) Anyway, it's available at http://www.wanderlost.org/iys/.

And in other news, I think I'm gonna order my Powershot G3 sometime this week or next!! :D

I have in the past, but sounds like I need to head back again! And whoo hoo -- congrats! :-)

Well, you're probably not going to find many sales at (Thurston Howell III voice) International Plaza. This is a mall with a Tiffany's and Lord & Taylor. Last year me and the Mrs. saw a fur-lined denim jacket there for over $5k. I would check Westshore for more reasonable shopping, although I love to walk IP myself. It makes me feel rich. The Discovery store at IP had some deep sales, and Dillard's has it's occasional 75% off sales, where my wife "saves me blind".

Yeah, but International Plaza is the only mall in town I want the big discounts from! ;-) No seriously, we cleaned house there last year after Christmas. I hauled at Body Shop and Crane's. This year, Crane's was very picked over and Body Shop (instead of the 75% off sales from last year) was only offering $1 off most products.
