And I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight...
Me (under my breath): I'm sick of cards, and presents, and wrapping, and thank you notes, and envelopes, and tape, and boxes, and mailing labels, and package stuffing, and...
Him (all cheery): Just do what I do and go to bed.
Me (not so cheery): Fuuuuuuuuuuck you.

Ok, so the Cleavers we ain't... But I don't think men realize just how lucky they are when they have a wife to do it all for them. The shopping. The wrapping. The packing. The Christmas cards. And when they don't have a wife, no one thinks a thing of 'em slacking because they're men. I want the last three days of my life back. I need a vacation. Bah humbug to all. And to all a good night.

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

i should keep my mouth shut since i'm so anti-man (but pro-dick of course, they're good for *somethings* you know) but i have to ask the question... how come sometimes they just don't fucking get it? here's what mr.yvonne just said when i complained about the 500 dishes that are sitting in my sink right now... "just go to bed and do them in the morning" oh *that's* a brilliant idea. now, he couldn't have said, "i know you have 633 other things to do, so i'll help ya out" nooooooooooooo, "leave them for tomorrow"
but i'm not bitter, really. that is all.

I don't know. While I don't have a wife yet, I have always found that if I slacked on that sort of thing, my Mom sure noticed...

And god bless her, buher. ;-)

hmmmmm, I guess since I am the one who does: ALL the packing and wrapping; ALL the toting and putting groceries away; ALL the car cleaning and maintenance; ALL the pet maintenance (feeding, cat litter box cleaning, hamster cage cleaning, fish flushing); most of the vacuuming; most of the bathroom cleaning; dishes at least 7 of 10 times they are done; and at least some of the laundry; then I should be feeling pretty good about myself as a husband.
But then, in all fairness, I work from home at a desk while she works long shifts on her feet. Hell, I do housework sometimes just to not be looking at a computer screen for a while.
Oh, and I get paid well with good sex for keeping the house clean. I'm calling it even.

Hey! Not all us guys like that. We have fallen into patterns at my house (24 years together does that kind of thing) but I have my chores and she has hers, ESPECIALLY at the holidays. My wife will admit that I am good for more than yvonne's *somethings*!

Oh don't get me wrong -- Todd does more than his fair share around here during the course of the day. We split pet care, he does all of his own laundry (mainly because he won't let me touch it and never has), he does almost all of the dishes, a good chunk of the cleaning, and if I'm not cooking he goes for takeout. It's just the Christmas tasks that I end up tackling alone for the most part each year...

Mike sucks ass at buying gifts. It has gotten to the point where yours truly orders things from Amazon, to be sent to him, for him to wrap and give to me. Plus, I have taken over gift-giving for the family...and it has already been established that I kick ass here!

At least I get what I want...when I was married to my ex, I was stuck with whatever tacky shit his mommy bought for me. And his mommy was not a member of my fan club! :-(

Oh yes...I have to add that Mike cleans the cat pans, plus he does his own laundry!

But he still sucks at gift-giving...I love him anyway! :-)

I have no idea why this turns out to be such seemingly guy thing. It is not from a desire to not buy presents for people that I loathe shopping for things. It is because I never feel when I choose the gift the person receiving it has that happy "I can't believe you got me something I have always wanted" look that is given when my wife (or virtually anyone else) buys the gift. Wrapping, cards, that kinda stuff we both do. As for cleaning, laundry, and dishes, those are my things around the house as my wife is a highly trained engineer and beneath her station. *snarf* And besides, I am the one home during the day. She does however do virtually all the cooking because she is so good at it and desires us both to live to old, old age, which would not happen were I was to do it. Of course, I have no real idea why we have hijacked this thread and turned it into the "I am a good man justification hour" or why I am participating. Bah humbug, now I feel better.

I'm right here with you on the bah humbug, and I've only gotten a few Christmas presents so far, and they're for the dog. But I used to wrap everyone's presents when I was married, and there was a lot of wrapping to do. One good thing though, was that I went upstairs to our bedroom, and did all of it alone, while watching a movie. It was actually kind of peaceful.

I've always wanted a wife.

Robyn, thanks for the card...I'm kind of male like in the fact that I suck at sending cards. Just wanted to say thanks for thinking of me, and you guys are in my thoughts this Cheery time of Year. (I wish I was buzzing around in a new Jetta this Christmas, but hey at least someone is right)

Hmmm, I like doing all that stuff. That's the best part of christmas.
