The AAA #1 Blog - now with cleavage!
Spotted over at Seki's -- Amish Tech Support weighs in on Getting a Hook for Your Blog. "If a clueless runt like Rebecca Blood can shove crap between two covers and sell it, so can I..."

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

Once again, I shoot my mouth off. Glad that I stuck my foot in my mouth, too, so I'm shooting myself in the foot to clear out the trifecta.

I was always under the impression that Rebecca Blood's book was a kind of "for dummies" book. Of course, I've always kind of thought that type of advice was similar to telling spammers why they shouldn't spam. Surely spammers know that most people don't want to be on their list, make every effort to filter out their junk, and will never buy any of their crap. Still, they keep doing it. Because it's all in the numbers... If you ask enough people to link you, a certain percentage will comply.

As for the amish tech support... I like that one about reading the Dale Carnegie book. However, most of what's in that book, I would consider common sense if you've been raised with manners. heh. And yet I don't have supercalfragilisticexpialidotious hit counts. But then, I don't try for hit counts, I just do what I want to do. And therefore I think hit prostitution is a little bit... well, it makes me wonder about the person doing it - what manner of mental illness or troubled past might lead them to be so desperate for attention.

The idea of "sucking up to Glenn" is particularly frightening to me, as he himself, despite his hit counts, is becoming an embarrassment to himself.
Which leads me to believe the Amish Tech Support list is a big joke... though probably at least 50% accurate, sadly.

My, Chloe, aren't we judgmental. Your basis for Glenn's "becoming an embarassment to himself" is...What? And can't you tell that the "sucking up" line is part of that joking stuff? Guess not.

I was being no more judgemental than that glenn character.

It's all about perspective, remember. If you can't tell that, then I don't know what to tell you.

I'm going to be the rebel here ... I've met Rebecca, spent an evening with her & her husband, and discovered she is an amazing, intelligent, witty and kind-hearted person. I also look at her book as more of a "for dummies" type of thing, and she wrote it some time ago - so the "blogosphere" as a whole has shifted some in the time that has passed.

We are in an ever changing medium, which I think is a really good thing.

(And personally, I can't stand to read Glenn's site. It makes my eyes cross and sometimes they even bleed. But obviously - from his traffic - that's just me...)

My problem with Rebecca's book (yes, I own it) was the tone and not so much the content. I don't appreciate being given the impression I'm a "bad" blogger if I post online when angry or some of the other tips that were included which I've mentioned here in the past. In a genre based on very little rules, it's hard to write a book outlining them...I do realize.

As for Glenn's site, I don't have a problem with it at all (other than the fact our politics tend to vary). I don't have enough time each day to follow it as a web-Bible or anything, but IMHO he's earned the "New York Times of the Blog World" catch phrase. He has it all -- and usually first.

I would like to point out that no one cast aspersions on Rebecca herself, simply one book that she happens to have written.

And Chloe, please remember that weblogs are personal journals, containing the thoughts and feelings of their owners. If Glenn doesn't wish to have perspective he doesn't damned well have to.

Wow, Glenn's blog makes your eyes bleed, Christine? How can I get my blog to do that? Any tips, guys?

Oops -- forgot to add: I would of course only use such power to do good. Good for me, anyway. ("Tremble, my enemies!")

I heart Andrea.
