Let me make it perfectly clear
A longtime friend of ours wrote, a little shocked, at the lengths I had gone to in this situation today. She wasn't defending her, but mentioned being surprised at how angry everyone got and how quickly they sprung into action on our behalf. So I just want to make sure ya'll understand...

If Miss-Thing had been a first-time offender, and/or a new blogger, and had no idea that thievery is wrong and not flattery, I would have made every effort to contact her privately, and get the situation worked out between the three of us, without opening the floodgates of hell on her ass. But she isn't a first-time offender. She has done it before. She will do it again. Go read the comments here. "Jani" actually made an appearance and claimed back on May 6th, "I never even knew there was some sort of etiquette on it all." She was told repeatedly what she had done was wrong -- and that it was, in fact, stealing. . She argued on her own behalf. And she did it again anyway. She knew what she was doing this time.

As such, I kicked it up a notch. Instead of just reporting her to AOL and Blogspot (which I also did) for TOS violations -- I took her Mensa bitch ass public. I sent a private plea to Evan. She deserves every single bit of treatment she got today, and then some. She isn't new at this. She's a pro. And you know what? I'm probably more than a little pissed off that even though she stole one of my designs today -- she didn't even take one of my best ones. If you're gonna steal something, steal something that's gooooood, yanno?

You may not "get it" now. But maybe just maybe you will when it happens to you. And believe me, she will do it again. Because she just. Doesn't. Care. So thank me later, ok?

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

I definitely think she deserves to be ripped into, if this is her second offense, but I draw the line at insulting her looks... as others seem to have done in the comments. It seems like a lot of people are taking the criticisms (not you, Robyn, as far as I can see!) to levels where they shouldn't be taken. It's one thing to say, "hey, what the hell, everyone should take note of this person, they regularly steal" and another to say "look at her, she's an idiot, ugly, and doesn't post anything interesting" (exaggerations intentionally made).

Sorry, gotta take this back to that whole "movie cleaning" discussion from the other day. Todd's blog design, whether one of your best or not, is still one of your works of art. It's something you created from your own brain. Which of us would not be just as disgusted if she tried to pass a Monet or a Picasso or whatever other famous artist's work off as her own. It really isn't any different. She took something that was not hers and passed it off as her own. And having done it at least twice (that we know of), she deserved every bit of what she got today. And besides, what she got, when it comes down to it, was a little extra email, some work cleaning out her guestbook, and a slap on the hand from aol and blogspot. Grand scheme, not that big, and not nearly enough.

Yea damnit, if she ever stole any of my designs I would be like all over her ass. Oh what – ah, I don’t have any designs just pictures of other peoples pussies, never mind.

You didn't go to any lengths, we did.

Well, I did.

I don't know if you noticed this, but her comments and her guestbook links are gone from the site - but the page remains.

since I'm a bit out of the loop, can ya fill me in on who Evan is? :)

¤ ¤ credit: queen | 09.26.02 at 07:56 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I know these “guys” that will can launch a multiply DoS (Denial-of-Service) attack against her, if the price is right – They want five 2 liter bottles of Mountain Dew and 17 packages of Twinkies and not one Twinkie less!

I looks like she was going to post something for us: http://members.aol.com/janikay27/images/kissmyass2

It's a picture of some old guy bending over, and she wrote "Kiss my ass...get lives". It has todays date.

I'm sure she stole that from someone else also.

Too funny.

¤ ¤ credit: Jamie | 09.26.02 at 08:06 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Yeah, check out her site now... it's replaced the Blogger Detention graphic.

¤ ¤ credit: katie | 09.26.02 at 08:09 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

She's responding with the same grace and aplomb as she did last time, although, I have yet to see her make an appearance. I double-dare her to come to my site.

Robyn, I applaud you. You kick major ass.

¤ ¤ credit: Annessa | 09.26.02 at 08:43 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

As for Ms. Jani Kay, her current comment says it all: "and thanks for all the traffic"

That is EXACTLY what she said during the whole ordeal with stealing Stacy's post -- and that is exactly why I went after her sorry ass with both guns a-blazin'. It's the only way that pathetic little soul can GET traffic.

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 09.26.02 at 09:05 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

P.S. Queen -- Evan is the guy behind Blogger. :-)

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 09.26.02 at 09:20 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

thanks robyn, i didn't know.

p.s. she just personally attacked you and Todd's wedding on her site!

god, you should start charging pay-per-view for this stuff...

¤ ¤ credit: queen | 09.26.02 at 09:41 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

That almost fits what I want to say to Phil.Do me a favor and go and tell him that :)

¤ ¤ credit: Tammie | 09.26.02 at 09:46 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

And she called you a "fucking cunt", Robyn. Is it time to kill her now? Please?

¤ ¤ credit: Sekimori | 09.26.02 at 09:47 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Oh yeah, if anyone wants to kill her on my behalf, I'll build them false idols here for all time. Release the hooooouuuunds!

As for the insults about our wedding -- I'll kindly point her towards this quote from our wedding site:

"The amount of time two people will stay married is inversely proportional to the amount of money that was spent on their wedding." -- Eric S. Bell

Our money went into the after party at Margaritaville, where it really mattered! Whether someone watched us get married in blue jeans or a tux, they still got drunk at the reception, baby!

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 09.26.02 at 10:04 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Katie, I know you were upset earlier about what others were saying about her. Well I never personally attacked her looks -- but here's what she had to say about our wedding:

"This is what kind of wedding $100 will buy you today.....notice the lovely *cough* "dresses" of the guests and family......phew-e"

She also called me a "fucking cunt". So please cry no tears for the poor baby troll. I think she's about to find out what it's like to cross the wrong people very soon.

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 09.26.02 at 10:12 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

The thing that she probably doesn't realize is that her site had no interesting content whatsover. So, for all the traffic that she got from the stunts she pulled with Stacy's content and your image... will she get any of it back tomorrow? Does anyone care enough to visit again? No.

Who steals content, honestly? Artwork I can understand, but what's the point of a blog if you're not even writing it yourself? (Who throws a shoe?) *heh heh* Just watch... maybe someday my words will soon be coming to another blog near you. Can't wait.

¤ ¤ credit: Gretchen | 09.26.02 at 10:17 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I wish only hell upon her.

Says the guy whose blog design is pretty blatantly derived from Mena Trott's Georgia Blue. Oh well. At least I mention that in my credit page. ;-)

¤ ¤ credit: John Kenneth Fisher | 09.26.02 at 10:17 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

that is just so wrong on multiple levels. I enjoy maintaing a blog because it stretches my creativity, not only in a writing sense, but also I have learned more about HTML in t his short time that I ever thought I could.

Keep up the good work all of you. I enjoy all your writings and HTML creativity. Robyn, you're a genius and the best always win out in the end.

Voley (from bitchtwit): "LOL.....you people need fucking LIVES......do you ever actually leave the internet??? I have been to several of your sites and wonder why it is the women who are so hell bent against me are fat cunts??? Jenny Craig Ladies.... he he he!!!!"

And serve (from me): "Honey, you think a little crack at my WEDDING is gonna hurt my feelings, make me tuck tail, call of the hounds, and stuff? Maybe you overlooked the fact that I said "fuck it" to the fairy tale wedding that was already in the works and ran off with my groom. I didn't give a shit about the appearance of the wedding -- or my guests. Only that we were married and happy at the end of our vows -- which we were -- and are.

Not that you aren't a pathetic, lying stealing piece of shit all on your own -- but you've REALLY gotta try harder than that to hurt my feelings. I pity you more than anything. Your life is so fucking pathetic that the images and content from it aren't your OWN when you retell your day to others in your JOURNAL of "your" thoughts and actions. That is WAY more sad and deserving of people's sympathy than the fact my guests' attire came from Penney's instead of Macy's."

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 09.26.02 at 10:48 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Not to spoil the party, but you're just giving her what she wants. She'll just get more and more hurtful to draw attention to her sad, pathetic life. She is so small compared to you, it's a miracle you can even see her (well, that is a pretty fat ass she's showing off now...must be hard to take a photo of your own posterior from that angle...there is no WAY she got another human being to stand that close...oops, got carried away...sorry)

Leave her to rot in her own stink.

my question is why is her site still there? according to the TOS for blogspot, which she has violated, she should not have a site anymore.

¤ ¤ credit: theresa | 09.26.02 at 11:20 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I'm finding the only thing slower than an AOL TOS report...is Blogspot...

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 09.26.02 at 11:23 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

One beautifully sneaky thing to do other than send multiple reports for TOS violations is to sign that guestbook of this snot.

Be sure and enter an e-mail address where it asks for one. Enter abuse@aol.com and hope that the individual in question sends a scathing e-mail in reply. It just ends up going to the AOL abuse address.

In the URL block, type "mailto:abuse@aol.com".

Perhaps she will kick herself offline.

reading the current post on her website, she seems to have missed the point completely. someone please email her these two links: http://www.whatiscopyright.org/ and http://www.templetons.com/brad/copymyths.html, and explain to her that what she did is not just taboo but ILLEGAL.

¤ ¤ credit: theresa | 09.27.02 at 08:12 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

Theresa, she's a liar...she threw that same crap out with me five or so months ago. We shouldn't waste any more effort on her...she actually thinks this sort of attention is good.

To me, she should emotionally disturbed. I think she's after Robyn's husband.

I'd watch her. Who the hell would steal someone's identity and then react the way she's reacting?

A very disturbed person.

¤ ¤ credit: dasheekeejones | 09.27.02 at 09:41 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

WoW. Robyn I'm sorry you had to go through all of this.

¤ ¤ credit: A. | 09.27.02 at 12:59 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I'm sorry you feel the way you do, but honestly, what does it matter? Yes I know you worked very hard on your design and it is a nice design and I'm very neutral here. What she did was neither right nor wrong. What you did was neither right nor wrong. She liked the design and she did 'nick' it. Would you have felt better if she had of asked first? I mean I'm missing the point here and I might be stepping on some toes but this seems utterly immature and a complete waste of time. Too much happens in life to let this get you down. Everyone knows who designed it. So I'm not sure what the problem is exactly. Sorry.

Kristi

¤ ¤ credit: Kristi | 09.27.02 at 02:06 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Everybody on Robyn's site knows she designed it, but everyone at that other site does not. That is Robyn's hard work, which normally, she gets paid for. (I'll assume Todd takes it out in trade...;-) ) To just STEAL that, I'm not even going to dignify it with a little word like 'nick'...to STEAL that, and not even credit Robyn, is inexcusable. And she did it knowingly. Nobody is down about it, it's just excessivly vexing that someone would do that kind of thing. Sorry if you don't understand that Kristi, but you try putting your hard work and creativity into something, only to have it stolen by someone who won't even admit it's not hers.

¤ ¤ credit: Tracy | 09.27.02 at 02:43 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I'm sure it was very upsetting, but and I stress this, if someone wants to do something like that and make themselves feel better, more power to them. I know the truth and so do my friends. I'm sorry I am just failing to see the point in it all. I don't really understand, but then again all people are different. I like Robyn's site, don't get me wrong, but I just fail to see the stress in it all. I'm sorry if what I have said has angered anyone, but I feel its just not something to stress yourself with. Just be thankful she didn't steal this design :).

Kristi

¤ ¤ credit: Kristi | 09.27.02 at 04:16 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Yes, be thankful, certainly not wrathful...that would be wrong! [/sarcasm]

Kristi, pet, do they not have copyright laws on your planet? It may just be a website to you, but it is Robyn's creation and protected by law. Run along now.

¤ ¤ credit: Sekimori | 09.27.02 at 04:19 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Kristi,

A new mink coat makes me feel good. So, based on what you're saying, I should just go take it. I'll tell everybody else I made it. That's okay, right???

¤ ¤ credit: Tracy | 09.27.02 at 04:22 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Well Kristi, how about I come and take something you've worked hours on (be it a project at work, a term paper, a huge Thanksgiving dinner, etc.) -- and I take all the credit?

You have to remember, I am a fledgling web designer. I get paid for this. And the web designs I do are really our only source of secondary income. So someone has stolen and altered one of my designs (very poorly, I might add) without my permission. If a potential client is surfing the blog world, how are they to immediately know that 1) I didn't design both sites -and- 2) I didn't give a design to one person and then try to pass it off to another as well without their knowledge.

It may be cute. It may be funny. It may be no big deal to you. But copyright laws exist in this country -- and all over the world -- for a REASON. If she wants to make herself feel better, she can head to Sephora and buy herself new makeup. I'm trying to make a living and I don't need nitwits like her -- and you -- not seeing the big deal in protecting my creations. Her friends may "know" that she's a lying thief, but other people that find her blog might not. It isn't like it's private and passworded.

And I'd be angered if she stole ANY design of mine. They are not free templates up for the taking. There are plenty of sites out there to get one of those.

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 09.27.02 at 04:26 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Ok, look, you can be mad all you want to, but at the end of the day it does no good at all. If you're really all that mad then do something (non immature) about it. It won't stop her that all your friends get together and go over there and bombard her guestbook and I'm sorry but resorting to name calling and such is just completely immature. I thought we left all this behind in grade school. I mean come on guys. This is a no name no one. No one is even going to her blog. There aren't a lot of comments. By the way you're directing people there and therefor she is getting a laugh and the attention that she quote unquote 'doesn't deserve'....ie she is getting attention period. I'm sorry Robyn, and whoever else but this is completely immature. Yes you have every right to be upset, but you're doing it on a completely immature level. I'm sorry but I totally disagree with you guys. I understand that this may be a secondary income for you and if it is protected by copyright laws then I suggest you go through the proper channels and not resort to kiddy games. It isn't worth it Robyn. It isn't worth it all. You can clearly see that what you did, didn't give you any sort of satisfaction cause if it did you wouldn't be mad again today. Anyhow thats all I have to say on the subject.

Kristi

¤ ¤ credit: Jen | 09.28.02 at 11:04 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

I think what Kristi was so ineffectively saying was that you can't maintain the moral high ground and descend to her level at the same time.

What the little thief did was inexcusable and pathetic. You had a right and a responsibility to pursue recourse through proper channels.

You also had every right to be livid. You probably had every right to send legions of your angry friends over to do her dirty -- high-school style. You have every right to leverage your vastly superior position in the blog world against her. You had evey right to levvy all the obscenities and petty revengeful behavior the High School mentality could muster.

But just because one has the *right*, that doesn't make it the *right thing to do*. Don't be suprised if the clueless wretch has learned nothing. Your team of superfriends' response has taught her nothing, except maybe that her own level of behavior is how things are done around the blog world. She will not raise her level of conduct, she'll just endeavor to do it more effectively in the future.

I like your blog and it is a regular read for me. So if you post a nasty reply and block *my* IP, I will miss out indeed. But sometimes you gotta stick your neck out and speak the truth. If you're gonna chop it off, make it a clean cut, 'kay?

Actually, Cody's post made a lot of sense, imo. I support your right to be upset about what happened, and even agree with you and posted my thoughts in the comments section of your previous post. Why would someone's IP be banned or they be unlinked because they said something that wasn't in agreement with everyone else?

¤ ¤ credit: trish | 09.29.02 at 02:28 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

Because this is not a democracy -- it is MY home, and it's a dictatorship. I'm not here to make the world feel happy and sing Kum Ba Yah and blow sunshine up your asses as we embrace in a big group hug. The URL is TampaTantrum. This is my space -- my own personal journal that I just happen to give you the key to when and if I want -- and it's my decision to paint the world the way I see fit with the brush and colors of my choosing. If you don't like it, I invite you to please exit at stage left. Thanks for playing and here is your year's supply of Turtle Wax...

That said, for the record, Cody wasn't banned. Cody said I could place a ban if I wanted. And I replied that it wasn't even worth my time to argue my position vs. theirs all over again.

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 09.29.02 at 02:35 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

Well, usually people who say something controversial invite discussions from those who disagree. It's what makes for intellectual debate. Regarding your suggestions, thanks but I graduated from high school a long time ago. Geez. Hilarious.

¤ ¤ credit: trish | 09.29.02 at 02:50 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

You are completely missing the point. That person. Was. Not. Banned.

Healthy discussions and debates are always welcomed here. That doesn't mean I have to agree with you, or soothe your feelings should I (or the masses) pick you apart over your opinions.

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 09.29.02 at 02:53 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

I'm not missing the point at all. You are. My comment was not focused on banning someone, it was supporting what Cody had to say, which was reasonable. The reference to banning someone was regarding the comment made about banning Kristy's IP address, after she posted her comments first, which were similar to Cody's later. The. End.

¤ ¤ credit: trish | 09.29.02 at 03:09 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

Trish, you are way out of line. The banning of people was made by trolls who were only out to cause problems and not engage in polite conversation. By definition - a troll. Cody's pollyanna post in no way reflects reality. This woman has caused trouble time and again on this and other blogs and deserves what she got. Robyn has friends willing to stick up for her and her intellectual property. And she's lucky to have them. The world Cody wants to live in doesn't exist. Sometimes you can't reason with trolls, they just need to be stepped on.

¤ ¤ credit: todd | 09.29.02 at 03:15 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

Todd, I totally agree with the fact that she was a troll. And yes, she deserved it. She was a little manipulative bitch. If you'll look at my comments on the other post and also on Annessa's blog, I agree with both of you. However, my comments tonight were directed at the public comments made here. I have no idea what went on behind the scenes and from the email I just received from Robyn, she stated the same thing. That's why I stress that I am only commenting on what was said publicly. I do not feel like I'm out of line for stating my opinion, though, especially when the reply was worded how it was . . . and with all that said, I think it's useless to continue this, because I really don't want to argue about it. I never intended for it to BE an argument at all . . . I actually agree with the opinions expressed by EVERYONE here (well, except Janikay's, of course).

¤ ¤ credit: trish | 09.29.02 at 03:51 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

Hey... I'm not banned? I'm not banned! I'm not banned! I'M NOT BAN... ahem. Just Kidding.

I never seriously expected to be banned. I was just recognizing that as Robyn's right. It is her blog after all. I was just nervous about speaking a contrary opinion to the obviously partisan crowd, that's all.

Call, me a Pollyanna if you wish. But I say the world of which I speak *does* exist. It's found right along side the normal one. You just hafta choose which one you're gonna walk in.

I didn't say it would be easy. Nothing worthwhile ever is.

Sometimes people resort to *immature* methods because it's the only language the perpetrators understand. Plus, it's fun, of course. Strictly speaking I don't approve of bombarding people's guestbooks with unpleasantness. But, hey, if 27naji or whatever she's called can't stand the heat, why she did go in the kitchen? Especially cos she's been there before. A dignified silence is all very well when you're in the same room as someone. Doesn't work in cyberspace.
