Well Kristi, how about I come and take something you've worked hours on (be it a project at work, a term paper, a huge Thanksgiving dinner, etc.) -- and I take all the credit?

You have to remember, I am a fledgling web designer. I get paid for this. And the web designs I do are really our only source of secondary income. So someone has stolen and altered one of my designs (very poorly, I might add) without my permission. If a potential client is surfing the blog world, how are they to immediately know that 1) I didn't design both sites -and- 2) I didn't give a design to one person and then try to pass it off to another as well without their knowledge.

It may be cute. It may be funny. It may be no big deal to you. But copyright laws exist in this country -- and all over the world -- for a REASON. If she wants to make herself feel better, she can head to Sephora and buy herself new makeup. I'm trying to make a living and I don't need nitwits like her -- and you -- not seeing the big deal in protecting my creations. Her friends may "know" that she's a lying thief, but other people that find her blog might not. It isn't like it's private and passworded.

And I'd be angered if she stole ANY design of mine. They are not free templates up for the taking. There are plenty of sites out there to get one of those.

Ok, look, you can be mad all you want to, but at the end of the day it does no good at all. If you're really all that mad then do something (non immature) about it. I think what Kristi was so ineffectively saying was that you can't maintain the moral high ground and descend to her level at the same time.

What the little thief did was inexcusable and pathetic. You had a right and a responsibility to pursue recourse through proper channels.

You also had every right to be livid. You probably had every right to send legions of your angry friends over to do her dirty -- high-school style. You have every right to leverage your vastly superior position in the blog world against her. You had evey right to levvy all the obscenities and petty revengeful behavior the High School mentality could muster.

But just because one has the *right*, that doesn't make it the *right thing to do*. Don't be suprised if the clueless wretch has learned nothing. Your team of superfriends' response has taught her nothing, except maybe that her own level of behavior is how things are done around the blog world. She will not raise her level of conduct, she'll just endeavor to do it more effectively in the future.

I like your blog and it is a regular read for me. So if you post a nasty reply and block *my* IP, I will miss out indeed. But sometimes you gotta stick your neck out and speak the truth. If you're gonna chop it off, make it a clean cut, 'kay?

Actually, Cody's post made a lot of sense,imo. I support your right to be upset about what happened, and even agree with you and posted my thoughts in the comments section of your previous post. Trish, you are way out of line. The banning of people was made by trolls who were only out to cause problems and not engage in polite conversation. By definition - a troll. Cody's pollyanna post in no way reflects reality. This woman has caused trouble time and again on this and other blogs and deserves what she got. Robyn has friends willing to stick up for her and her intellectual property. And she's lucky to have them. The world Cody wants to live in doesn't exist. Sometimes you can't reason with trolls, they just need to be stepped on.

Todd, I totally agree with the fact that she was a troll. And yes, she deserved it. She was a little manipulative bitch. If you'll look at my comments on the other post and also on Annessa's blog, I agree with both of you. However, my comments tonight were directed at the public comments made here. I have no idea what went on behind the scenes and from the email I just received from Robyn, she stated the same thing. That's why I stress that I am only commenting on what was said publicly. I do not feel like I'm out of line for stating my opinion, though, especially when the reply was worded how it was . . . and with all that said, I think it's useless to continue this, because I really don't want to argue about it. I never intended for it to BE an argument at all . . . I actually agree with the opinions expressed by EVERYONE here (well, except Janikay's, of course).
