The blogger's guide to popularity
Newsweek has a new article out titled "Living in the Blog-osphere". Just once I'd like to see blog authors other than Andrew Sullivan, Dave Winer, and Glenn Reynolds get nods in the mainstream press though. That's not to say the above shouldn't share the limelight. It's just there are so many others out there to choose from now... Blogging articles seem to be cut-and-pasted regurgitation these days. Media nods to individual bloggers have become almost as bad as media nods to wedding sites (*cough*Knot*cough*).

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

I agree.... surely the point of a blog is to be an alternate voice to the media - a place to escape from the politically correct, manufactured dribble that we get spoon fed to us every day. If blogs are referred to frequently in the media then maybe all they will end up being is what media giants want them to be.... I can see it, the fake blog written by professional writers with advertisements everywhere classed as 'entertainment'.

It seems that the main bloggers mentioned in articles are those who also write for major media, or those who were involved in blogging software development.

I don't think that the media understands that there are weblogs other than warblogs and techblogs.

I am officially offering myself as an authority on the sexy blogs. Anyone want to interview me? Don't all speak at once, now.

Totally agreed. I just read them to see if they mention Blogrolling ;-)

I nominate wKen as the official authority on soft-porn blogs. I can't read his site half the time at work because it has that, you know, special effect on me!
