A quick public prayer of thanks
I am way out of it. I take medication for insomnia and I didn't get to bed until almost 6 a.m. this morning. About 15 minutes ago I was woken up by the sound of the front door opening and Claire going nuts. In walked Todd. He'd been in an accident. He's 100% ok. It's still a hazy daze. The front bumper on the Explorer is toast (and it was totally his fault for following too closely, although he wasn't ticketed). But have I mentioned he's fine? My heart stops when I watch the traffic reports each day and they show smashed up vehicles on bridges where the speed gets up to 90 mph. He had a mere fender bender. Excuse me while I go cry and hug him like I'm never going to let go before he has to go back to work. (He's on the phone with our insurance right now.) He can't surf from work anymore, but leave him some love when you can, ok? Thanks.

UPDATE: He snapped a pic of the damage just before he left. Whee.

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

so glad to hear todd's ok! those moments are always so very scary. i hope you are doing ok too. *hugs to you both*

OMG! How scary! Thank God that he's okay!

i'm glad it was just a small fender bender and todd is ok. this is why we should get rid of cars and just ride bikes around.. we could have a huffy traffic jam.

anyway, glad to know everyone is fine.

How sad is it that in today's society, the first thing I thought when he was walking in with a sad, scared look was: "Oh shit. He's been laid off."

He's on his way to work now, and to an appt. at the auto-dealer for an estimate later.

I did not want to let go of him. He teases me for saying "drive safe" before he leaves each time, but now I think I'm going to say it twice. So very, very thankful he's ok!

It is a sad society, I would have thought the exact same thing had Eric walked in looking like that. I'm relieved to hear he's ok. I know that the other driver isn't of much concern to you, but I'm assuming they're fine too?

But here's the big question, are you ok? It's stressful being in an accident, yes, but being the spouse of a person in an accident is just as bad, even if you weren't in the accident. You're ok too, right?

glad to hear Todd's ok... those moments when you hear something bad has happened and your heart just hits the floor are the WORST.

¤ ¤ credit: theresa | 08.08.02 at 10:01 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

Ack! Glad to hear Todd's okay. I can only imagine how you must feel.

I just added a pic so everyone can see how minor it was. He hit a county works truck with a steel bumper so it had barely a scratch on it. They estimated the damage on the other truck at $50 max. Both cops coming to the scene were almost in accidents trying to get there themselves. I guess today was just hell on that road, and that's why he wasn't ticketed.

I'm ok. I think. I'm so stoned on sleep meds right now I don't know if I'd feel much of anything. I broke down and started crying once he left, but then Claire peed on the carpet (what a morning!) because I guess she was scared about everything, too -- since she'd already been out. That kinda snapped me out of it momentarily. Thanks for asking if I'm ok though! I'm really just worried about him. I can't imagine having to get back in the car and do an hour's commute following an accident...

If I go silent here in a sec, I'm going to try and lay down again. I can barely keep myself upright in the chair, but I want to be awake when he calls to tell me he's got to work ok. Thanks so much to everyone for their well wishes!

Glad he is ok!!
Hope you are ok too!...I know the feeling. My Todd went to Jacksonville and calls me yesterday to tell me the tires on the company truck were bald and they had a blow out on I-75. I am SO thankful he wasnt hurt. I want to choke his boss though. He knew the truck needed tires and just neglected it.

argh.

Ack Jen - those terrify me! I've been through one and hope never to go through it again... Glad to hear your Todd is ok, too!

I hate fender benders, I was in one going 5 miles an hour...and it cost me $2000. The other guy only had a slight dent.... good luck with rest and i'm glad Todd is ok!

Glad both of you are ok. I always tell my friends/ loved ones to drive safely. My best friend always always say to eachother "shiny side up" before we leave. And it's very nerve wracking to get a call like that. So glad that you two have eachother.

OMG. Thank goodness he is okay!!

¤ ¤ credit: Christi | 08.08.02 at 11:59 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

I'm glad to hear that Todd is okay. I'm also glad he was able to come home and tell you himself, as it would've been much worse if someone else had called you to tell you. You had the reassurance of his presence to prove to you that he was okay.

Glad to hear you're both ok. Those long commutes are hell.

Yeah, good thing everything's alright. Be sure to give him another big hug when he gets home tonight. And don't be too hard on Claire... she was worried too. *grins*

I am glad that eeveryone is fine. But is looks like you need to invest in a new OU plate. Oh My! Can you tell the adjuster to include one of those?

¤ ¤ credit: Angela | 08.08.02 at 08:33 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Yikes. Just one more "glad he's OK," comin' your way. Rest up.

¤ ¤ credit: peggy | 08.08.02 at 08:45 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Add another "glad he's ok." Accidents, no matter how minor, are always frightening.

Drive safe!

¤ ¤ credit: michele | 08.08.02 at 09:58 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Woah! Glad it was just a fender bender. Hey, he might want to take a couple of Tylenols or something anyway -- even the slightest accident can can leave you feeling really sore (you tighten up or something). Anyway, I'm glad he's okay. Take care in that crazy Tampa traffic!

¤ ¤ credit: Andrea Harris | 08.08.02 at 10:14 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Wow, glad to hear he's okay! The damage doesn't look all that bad - hopefully his nerves aren't shot now!

I'm glad he's ok, and being that I was in an accident last month in my Explorer, I will say what I've told everyone:
Built Ford Tough.
