Have that bitch make me some blueberry pancakes
We are so screwed. All those times we broke Claire's bones in half when we got to the bottom of the bag because we didn't make it to the store on time... Turns out, she knows!

"...Dogs also know when they are being short-changed on treats because they have a basic mathematical ability which enables them to tell when one pile of objects is bigger than another..."

Read the full "Dogs are smarter than people think" article at CNN.

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

Oh shit. That explains so many things. That tricky little fucker... ;)

I'm actually convinced that I have a little old man in a basset suit instead of a basset hound. The other one, well he's too busy concentrating on being evil to have any idea if I'm short changing him treats...

Since I just did that this a.m. I'm feeling pretty bad right about now.

"all those times we broke claire's bones in half"

This does not read well when you're really tired.

Uh-oh.

Hey, did you know that some dogs can understand up to (what researchers think is) 4,000 human words. Also, parrots do not just repeat sounds when they speak; most understand what they are saying.

what bugs me is that g still thinks he's getting ripped-off if he gets three half-bones instead of one whole one. and he gives me the look. i try to explain it...

*Looks at the nearly empty box filled with half-bones.* Hrm, so should I give them two halves each? :) My dogs are definitely smart in some ways and dumb in others - the shetland sheepdog knows the tricks to get someone to let her outside. She'll do one thing for me and something else for my mom, but she always succeeds. But she'll walk WIDE circles around stationary objects like trashcans, parked cars, and mailboxes - maybe she's just caught some of my paranoia ;)

My dog is way too smart to be tricked by bones cut in half to make it look like there's more - but she's not a guts either, so I don't know that she'd care. She's actually out in the backyard now with a giant puppy toothbrush! (a marrow bone cut in half so she can lick and gnaw it all out). I love my dog. Puppy kisses are the best!
