And my heart breaks for the 137th time this week
Why can't we inflict the same punishments these heartless bastards use on their defenseless victims? I'll supply the lighter fluid and charcoal. Anyone got a grill big enough? Five years and $10,000 is a joke. People stood around and laughed?!? I'd have been throwing the hot coals at the fucktard's eyes. (Article from CNN.com.)

Update: Looks like Susan and Erynn found it, too -- and are just as furious.

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

I read about that earlier and I was just shocked - and very few things I read shock me anymore.

I heard about this on the news last night. I can't stand when people hurt poor defenseless animals.

¤ ¤ credit: statia | 07.17.02 at 08:08 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

Yeah, I saw this one as well - it's just sick what some people do.

What pisses me off the most is that if the judge (or jury?) wanted to send a message that torture is completely unacceptable, even if your victim happens to walk on four legs rather than two, the guy will still only get five years.

What would the sentence be if the victim were an 8 week old person? Why is the suffering of a kitten any less appalling?

If I ever get my hands on this shithead I'll use him to answer some pressing questions I have about the pain threshold of the average human being and the durability of the human body under grotesque stresses.

I agree 100%. And when you add in time served and good behavior, he'll barely see the inside of a cell at all.

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 07.17.02 at 08:43 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

OMG. All I saw was the link before it opened and I started crying. I don't understand and I never will. I can't even write what I'd like to do this "person"...

¤ ¤ credit: Christi | 07.17.02 at 09:41 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

And I wanted to add... they always say that cruelty to animals is only the beginning. Someone who does this usually moves on to bigger prey before it's over. When will the laws change?!

¤ ¤ credit: Christi | 07.17.02 at 09:43 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

i can not believe people sometimes. erynn, if you ever start having that "conversation" with this guy, ask me over. i'll have a few questions of my own for the f-k.

some people make me sick.

I honestly hope someone really does something harmful to this guy (God forgive me). I hope some militant person does something awful and painful to him and gets away, scott free.

¤ ¤ credit: chel | 07.17.02 at 10:26 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

Robyn, I'll go broke and buy a grill big enough to barbeque this bugger, if someone can get him.

I nearly cry if I accidentally step on my cat's tail. I can't imagine someone intentionally causing a kitten harm. And personally, I think tit for tat sounds like a damned good plan. But, one thing, I'm not inviting anyone who would have sympathy for the prick and pull him off the grill until I'm done poking him with a stick and watching him wriggle.

I agree that those involved in this torture are mentally insufficient at best, but I wonder if the people who are angry about it now are also the same people that I see eating cooked cows and pigs in local restaurants. Are cats more important than these animals or are they just cuter?

¤ ¤ credit: scott | 07.17.02 at 12:16 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I think there is a difference between people who eat animals and people who torture them.

Anyway, this is an awful case. It really inspired me, both to blog about it and to act. It seems like animal cruelty is reaching epidemic status and clearly something must be done. As for your idea, Robin -- there's a grill in my backyard that would work nicely. Come on over.

The abuse is rampant anymore. Hopefully, this f**ker will get his due. Can you imagine the kharma he has waiting for him?

¤ ¤ credit: Susan | 07.17.02 at 12:43 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

One of the saddest things about this whole incident is that there are people out there that don't see what the big deal is. And that really disturbs me.

This whole "Two Susan" thing is freaking me out! Now I finally see what all of you Ch/Kristines are going through! Maybe I need to change my posting name to "Sue"... ;-p
As for this guy, the part that scares me the most is that he probably won't even receive a psychological evaluation. He's 24 years old. These things don't start in your twenties... they continue into your thirties when you have moved on to raping and torturing humans. I really hope that someone realizes to ask about the whole "Triad of Terror" thing. [Bedwetting, Firestarting, Cruelty to Animals] He is most likely in the last phase here... it can only go downhill!

¤ ¤ credit: Susan | 07.17.02 at 02:20 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I also posted something about this and appreciate the fact that I'm finding others just as appalled as I am. It's good to bring these things to light, to comment on them, and to let the world know that there are those of us that refuse to tolerate this kind of behavior. Those who hurt animals go on to hurt human beings. It's a fact.

it's just incredible how cruel some people can be. sadly, if i beat the shit outta that guy, i'd probably get a sentence two or three times longer than his...

¤ ¤ credit: mikey | 07.17.02 at 03:54 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

No doubt, Mikey. As for the comment about cows and pigs, I am a meat eater myelf. But I don't put the living, breathing pig on the grill and watch it squirm as I eat it. Much like the octopus the other day, I hope people who do put living creatures through the same thing (for the record, I don't eat lobster) get their own due. I support several animal causes financially -- so I do back up my words. Besides, if plants could scream -- would it be hurting them by ripping fruit and veggies off? My doctor has specifically forbidden me to be vegetarian for my health and blood/pernicious anemia problems. I don't have a problem with that.

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 07.17.02 at 04:34 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

When I was a kid up in Canada, one night I came across some drunk local hoods burning a cat in a bonfire. It was dead by the time I got there but from what they were smirking about, it hadn't started out that way. I came back a few minutes later and when they weren't looking, threw a box of shotgun shells into the fire, then left.
Unfortunately, none of them got hurt too badly.

I think the lions den should be brought back as a punishment for these people.

¤ ¤ credit: peat | 07.17.02 at 04:56 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

That is amazingly cruel, how can anyone do something like that to something so small and helpless.

¤ ¤ credit: munin | 07.17.02 at 05:55 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

This link is just for Robyn because I think she can handle it and given the lobster comment would want to know. I don't know anybody else here, so follow it at your own risk. Be warned though, it's been 3 months since I've eaten meat because of that link and I actually believe eating meat is a good and natural thing. Really. that. bad. of. a. link.

For the short time this "person", term used lightly, is in prison--perhaps someone could let the entire prison population know what he's in for. Prison justice should be good enough. Don't you think?

I say through this guy on the fire and see how he likes it...
