Guns don't kill people. Stupid rednecks at
"A 13-year-old boy died Monday after being shot in the head while attending a gun show with his father.....Vendors at gun shows are allowed to carry loaded handguns for protection but cannot display them on a table or let customers handle them, authorities said." Gee that's brilliant. You can't even get a spork on a plane these days -- but how's about allowing loaded weapons inside a venue already full of 'em? Hooah! (Link from FARK.com. Article from Lycos.) How sad. My prayers are with the boy's family. ¤ ¤ credit: mama | 07.16.02 at 01:25 PM | link--this ¤ ¤wow . . . that is so tragic! What an unnecessary loss of life. I wonder if his father is rethinking his views on guns?? I am not really pro-gun and I am not anti-gun, but stories like this make you wish people weren't so careless. The consequences are too high when it comes to firearms . . . how many more kids have to die because dad likes guns? ¤ ¤ credit: jason | 07.16.02 at 02:05 PM | link--this ¤ ¤That's just so tragic :( ¤ ¤ credit: Julie | 07.16.02 at 02:08 PM | link--this ¤ ¤Stories like this are so tragic. When will people learn? ¤ ¤ credit: Kelly | 07.16.02 at 03:16 PM | link--this ¤ ¤Oh, how terribly sad. ¤ ¤ credit: Christine | 07.16.02 at 06:36 PM | link--this ¤ ¤I read about this too. It is so sad. Why in the world does someone need a loaded gun at a gun show?? And unfortunately, stuff like this happens in every state, not just Alabama. ¤ ¤ credit: Christi | 07.16.02 at 06:41 PM | link--this ¤ ¤Terrible thing to have happen. But... For the record, this was at a gun-show in Georgia, not Alabama... Regardless, what difference does it make where it took place? Does it make it any less/more tragic/stupid? And why are they "rednecks"? is it because you read they are from Alabama at a gun-show in Georgia? I'm from Alabama. Does that mean I'm a redneck? A so-called "Jethro"? They have gun shows out here in California too. (And every state in the US.) ¤ ¤ credit: jca | 07.16.02 at 09:43 PM | link--this ¤ ¤Sorry -- they've since updated the article, published with the correct info. At the time I wrote the entry late last night it read Alabama. Now it just says that's where the child is from. Thanks for the correction! And for the record, if you'll check my "about" page, I've lived in Alabama. I'm from Oklahoma. I have several friends either currently in -- or from -- Alabama. I have nothing against those in the South, and consider myself a Southerner as well. However, I have been to a gun show -- and I think the general population at those events speaks for itself. I am not stereotyping there, in my opinion, based on personal experience. It's terribly tragic regardless of which state it happened in... ¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 07.16.02 at 09:47 PM | link--this ¤ ¤ You were right about the article. It did read like it happened here in Alabama. It is just wrong no matter where it happens or what kind of people it involves. When will people understand that guns and children don't mix! *sigh* ¤ ¤ credit: Christi | 07.16.02 at 10:37 PM | link--this ¤ ¤I AM PRO-GUN AND WAS AT THE GUN SHOW IN GEORGIA-
