Let's do the timewarp again
Doctor Frank-N-Furter as a plastic surgeon who lives in a posh penthouse? C'mon! "I've go this great idea. Why don't we pitch it to the Franklin Fucking Mint?" So since it looks like it's gonna happen -- who would you cast in the main roles (Janet, Brad, Frank-N-Furter, Riff Raff, Magenta, Columbia, Rocky, etc.)?

Updated to say...Todd thinks we need to cast it with bloggers...

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

Mikey as Frank-N-Furter???

And since it's Todd's suggestion, Todd is Brad, and Robyn is Janet!

I don't know -- have you seen Todd in a bra? He might give Mikey a run for his money as the good Dr. ;-)

Damn you two just read my mind. Mikey was my first choice for the good dr. hmmmmm, is it scary that we all think that or scary that he'd make the perfect person for that job?

I get to be Magenta. And I know for a fact that Dan would volunteer to play Rocky.

Damn, not Rocky...the other one...Meatloaf's character. Hell, have to go watch it again...

¤ ¤ credit: Sekimori | 07.01.02 at 04:50 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Ok, this is obviously a rush job -- but I'm beginning to think the part was created just for Mikey? What about you?

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 07.01.02 at 05:07 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I'm fundamentally annoyed by this. Not because I don't love Rocky Horror, but because my theatre society's been trying to get the rights to it since the beginning of time but can't because Richard O'Brien is doing another anniversary tour and thus is refusing to let anyone have the rights. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

That said, I volunteer for Janet. Slut. :) (Not that I am, I just think it'd be fun!)

Can I be Columbia? Please??

¤ ¤ credit: michele | 07.01.02 at 05:10 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

i'm fundamentally disturbed by this too! and i'm sorry, i've got way better legs than that!

ok, i'll fess up a bit here... i've only seen RH once, and admittedly, i was drunk as shit... so i don't remember any of the movie, the characters, nothing. i just remember getting rained on, and throwing toast. but i'm also a bit of a purist, so i absolutely refuse to rent it and watch it at home... it's gotta be seen in a theater for the full experience, right?

¤ ¤ credit: mikey | 07.01.02 at 05:20 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I love it as a "group theater experience" (stage production or feature film) -- but it does lack something to sit at home and watch it, unless you make a party of it, IMHO. And if you've got better legs than that, well I think I speak for everyone when I say you're going to have to put the costume on and prove it! ;-p

Dibs on Eddie! Less screen time and I'd get to go to all the parties. And since I know the part not just by "the meatloaf" character I think I should win ;-)

Is that ok with you Stacy? I think Dan would make a great Riff Raff myself!

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 07.01.02 at 05:28 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

this is really disturbing. who would want to try and make another rocky??? grr. i don't think i'd go see it when it comes out. i love the original way too much*sniff*

Did anybody see the anniversary special last year on VH1, where they had Eric McCormack (sp) from Will & Grace dressed up as Dr. FrankNFurter? He actually did a pretty good job....and he has VERY nice legs!

¤ ¤ credit: Tracy | 07.01.02 at 05:42 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

no!! i got here too late - all the good parts are taken. i guess that leaves rocky. i'm pretty good at running around in a gold bikini and going "duh."

Uhhh... because I've already got the sequined hotpants (for reasons I'd rather not get into...) I'll opt for Columbia. Although running around in my underwear as Janet might be fun.

Now to dust off the soundtrack sitting in my CD rack.

Can I be the fat old man that stands on the desk and teaches the time warp dance. The storyteller? I obviously look nothing like him, but I just want to break into the acting business. lol

Oh god... The late, great Coconut Grove movie theater in Miami used to have weekly midnight showings of Rocky Horror. I must have gone a thousand times back in the 80s. They used to sell Red Zinger tea at the concession stand. I don't know who I would want to play, but I do know that I have always wanted a house with a room decorated like the Zen Room.

Okay, you need to cast an Academy Award winning actress as Janet, and for Brad, well who's the current Mayor of NYC???? (you do know who played the original Brad don't you?)

Kat - That would be Richard O'Brien's desire to make even more money out of the franchise on yet another anniversary. Aka. the same reason amateur rights are only available in the US and unquivocally unavailable everywhere else in the world right now... I believe we're coming up to the 30th anniversary of the stage show, so he's doing a tour. They have open casting calls in 'The Stage' about once every three months, if anyone's interested...

¤ ¤ credit: Tina | 07.02.02 at 05:45 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

Andrea, I think I've been to that theatre. Small world...

¤ ¤ credit: todd | 07.02.02 at 11:14 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

You would think for the 30th Anniversary, they would finally release the "sequel" - Shock Treatment - not rewrite RHPS into some crapfest.

I mean, please, a plastic surgeon?

As for casting, I'd be happy just to sit in the audience again with my super soaker... or reprise my role as Columbia. Either way, its all good.

Well, it kinda makes sense...

Btw, this post inspired me to go out and order the 25th anniversary edition DVD. So it's done some good. :)
