The six year itch
I decided to spoil my husband (with ulterior motives) and snag him a new GameCube today for our anniversary next week. He's wanted another gaming system forever (a Dreamcast was his last one), and once everyone started dropping prices this month it was hard to say no. We've debated which system to buy forever now, but after watching the latest "Extended Play" from E3 2002, the deal was sealed. I am salivating at the thought of playing "Super Mario Sunshine" (and the rest of the Mario games) soon! Then this summer Madden 2003 and NCAA Football 2003 will be released for the GameCube as well. And that's just the ones that I want to play (since I'm not really of the gamer mindset)...Todd's list is already a mile long. We rented Madden 2002, Spider-Man, and Luigi's Mansion for this weekend. Right now we're tied 1-1 for Madden victories.

And while we were down in Tampa, I finally found these flip-flops in my size at Targhét. I've been on a mission since I first spotted them. I enjoy being a girl!

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

and your toenail polish matches the flip-flops! i love that.

It was a complete fluke, too -- the polish I'm wearing is here.

Do Americans seriously call them flip-flops??? In Australia they're thongs.

I took my first visit to the snow today. Will supply photos in my blog in the next 24 hours. We took Jess the Snow Dog too and she had loads of fun running around in the snow till it made her paws sore.

well, they used to be called thongs here too, but now with the advent of thong underwear...

and damn Robyn, so much for surprising Todd with your gift...

It's kind of hard to surprise someone when you can't drive Mikey... "Honey, can you please drive me to Best Buy so you'll have absolutely no clue what I'm about to walk out with even though you know how much we have in checking and what you really want there?" Besides, I really hate surprises and we always exchange gifts early. We decided to get this now with the long weekend and all.

Jo, we call them flip-flops here, too -- but like Mikey said -- and also the Buffett lyric for me ("blew out my flip-flop, stepped on a pop-top"). Thank goodness cans don't have pop-tops anymore though!

oh yeahhhhhhh i forgot that you don't drive. hell, you shoulda called me; i'd take you to best buy. you just gotta plan everything at least a month in advance, tho...

Well at least your all know that you will have a great weekend...I think that is the next system we get if not psp2....He isn't sure yet...But I do miss the Mario games...And I love the Spyro games too...

Bull Hockey!! That's freakin' amazing. My wife bought me a GameCube this weekend, too! YAHOO! One friendly word of advise, don't buy him Resident Evil. You'll never see him again. I'm waiting on NCAA to come out, as well as Star Wars:Bounty Hunter and Top Gun (Jul 1st) so I can do some Afghan bombing.

If you seriously want to have some fun pounding on old Todd though, go rent NHL Hitz. Even if you hate Hockey worse than old fashioned, saltwater steam hair curlers, you'll love smashing guys into the boards and the unbelievable body checks in this one. It's like NFL Blitz (the one with the extreme tackles).

Just in case you need it, here's a master list of current and future GameCube masterpieces!

Enjoy your GameCube this weekend and go easy on poor Todd. :)

i went to targhet (i pronounce it that way, too!) to look for those recently, as i saw them and totally wanted them but decided i'd go back to get 'em. well, they aren't there in my size anymore! (size 9.) oh well. enjoy them for me!

that's it, i've heard enough..i'm going to targhet right NOW to see if they have any in my size! too cute!

I'm sure that you will post it on the actual date, but Happy Early Anniversary!

I have a PS2, but I'm buying my son a Game Cube for his birthday. I just won't do the X Box. I'm sure that Satan won't miss my money too badly.

Those are cute, and your toe polish matches perfectly! I must go get some of those!

He he! Robyn has cute toes ;-)

¤ ¤ credit: Beatriz | 05.26.02 at 11:06 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Sorry to break from the toe talk, but I've got some serious research to do. I almost bought the PS2 cuz someone's going to float me a free copy of Jak and Daxter (from da dudes who made Crash Bandicoot). Then again, the GameCube is ultra cheapo and it's got some spiffed out games! My last system: N64 (I'm lame). Someone... anyone... help! help!

We love our Game Cube, Super Smash Bros Melee is the best! :)

Mike, the biggest decision-maker for us was to take a look at current/new game titles and past titles and decide which system we'd both play the most based on those. I don't really play action and fantasy games -- just sports and the Mario series -- so the GameCube offered the best of both worlds for us (and had less of a chance to sit around collecting dust once the "new" wears off). And paying an extra $50 for a DVD player was pointless, since with his PC and my iBook, we now own three.

Todd barely played his Dreamcast (I didn't use it at all) and never bought games for it -- so don't feel too bad. The last system we actually used was our N64, too. And the differences between the two will blow you away!

Okay, I have to say that I really, really don't like flip-flops. I think the noise drives me crazy. Perhaps it goes back to when I was a child and my mom's flip-flop got stuck under the gas peddle of our car and we drove into a wall of a mechanics' shop. Ever since then I've been critical of women's shoes in regards to what I like and don't like to see a woman wearing. Odd huh?

Love the sandals, they are adorable!

Happy early anniversary to you and Todd. Wishing you many more years of happiness together!

¤ ¤ credit: munin | 05.27.02 at 06:02 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Hey Sean... I don't even own a pair of flip-flops [I STILL call them "thongs"] b/c of the noise! I also don't like the feel between my toes; icky!
But they are cute, Rob; they're much better than just the plain ones that everyone else wears. :)

¤ ¤ credit: Susan | 05.27.02 at 07:56 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

yeah cute flip flops and toes. i am a big fan of pedicures and all that girly stuff. yes i like to give targhet the "snooty" pronunciation too. it's also good if you can say it with a "locust valley lockjaw" :-)

¤ ¤ credit: robin | 05.27.02 at 10:45 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I'm totally diggin' the cherry flip-flop thongs. I think I hear Targhet calling my name...

¤ ¤ credit: Christine | 05.28.02 at 11:42 AM | link--this ¤ ¤

I got those cherry "sandals" a few weeks ago and I'm loving them! Tell me this though...when you put clean feet in clean sandals, how do you still end up getting that dingy color on them after a while? My cherries don't look so colorful anymore! ;-( I'm going to paint my toenails red to match soon! ;-) You're right, it's great being a girl!

¤ ¤ credit: Khara | 05.28.02 at 02:25 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

No Christine, nooooo....fight the urge, fight it...you can do it! Just say no to flip-flops! :-)

¤ ¤ credit: Sean | 05.28.02 at 02:56 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

loved the flip flops. hey, have you seen the OU ones? they're here at wally world I think.

¤ ¤ credit: Mama | 05.29.02 at 01:49 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

NO! I haven't! Must...have...OU flip-flops... Please mommy! I'll be good! ;-)

¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 05.29.02 at 02:35 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I NEED those flip flops. I MUST HAVE those flip flops. I've been to four different Targhet's and I CAN'T FIND those flip flops. WAHHHHH!!!!
Ok, enough of the self pity now....
