I'll be there for you?
So did anyone actually buy the ending of "Friends" as a cliffhanger? Don't read on if you haven't seen it yet. I mean, Joey is an upstanding guy with integrity. I find it hard to believe when next season starts that Joey would pretend to be proposing to Rachel with someone else's ring. And how on earth is he going to explain, "Well I'm sorry Rach, but I need to take that ring back and give you another one because you see that ring actually belongs to Ross. I picked it up when it fell out of the father of your child's coat... Oops. Still wanna marry me?"

I thought the ending was hella-lame.

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

i so agree!!! why did they have to stoop so low? i'm so tired of the whole Ross and Rachel back-and-forth thing. just make up your mind already! geesh! :)

I'm going to have to agree as well. This whole season has been mostly disappointing.

I'll agree this was a pretty lame way to end a lackluster season. I had hope for them breaking out of the R&R duldrums with a good relationship between Joey and Rachel but then they had to let that fizzle out. Ross and Rachel have tried to have a relationship but it never works; the idea that suddenly a baby will make it all work out is wreckless and far-fetched. Babies don't save marriages nor do they make a good foundation for a new one. As long as they are going to drag it out for one more season maybe they should have Rachel live alone and raise Emma with the help of Ross and her friends - that would be a nice full circle resolution for her character.

Aggghhh! I had more fun at the grocery store. My wife and I rushed through our shopping, and I hauled serious ass getting the groceries in from the car just to be disappointed.

Bad, very bad. That's why I gotta pimp my Smallville. Waaaaayyy better.

Cheers!

Yes, I must say I was a bit disappointed too. But, I heard next season is the last so this just gives them a wide open space with which to totally ruin the show as it leaves the airwaves.

I was seriously dissapointed, that was so dumb.
Additionally, will & grace had a crap ending, and ER was like just another episode.
Tonight, NBC = "Must Suck TV"

er's _real_ season finale was last week. buh bye anthony edwards.

Completely agree. It was lame. Although I was the only one in the room, I was asking, "That's it? That's how it ends?"

They should just end the show. I really enjoy it, but it's getting rather old rather quickly and I thought the ending was extremely weak!

Does anyone know if last night was CSI's season finale? As for Friends, that ending was somewhat predictable.

I agree with everyone else on the Friends ending. Ross and Rachel is such a tired routine, and why would they name the baby Emma when Ross was married (sort of) to Emily? The names are too similar.

Munin, Last night was evidently the season finale for CSI.

I missed Survivor. Who got booted?

Was Charmed stupid last night, or what?

Did anyone else see Natalie Portman on David Letterman? I could not believe her honking laugh. It cracked me up.

Does anyone else think I watch too much TV?

I felt Friends was fine until that final sequence. A shame, really, as they did some fine work this year, on the whole.

Will & Grace at least missed Jumping the Shark. If they went through with the child idea, that would have been the death of the show. Try www.jumptheshark.com for more info. :)

ER was fine, but then I like Carter and Abby together.

Ummmm... I liked it... *ducks* I've never liked Ross... and I think Joey could be som much better for her *grins*. And dammit... I totally forgot about CSI - for some stupid reason I taped Will and Grace instead of CSI... what was I thinking?!?!?!

kathy won immunity, and sean got the boot. so now, if either paschal or neleh wins immunity, the other folks are fucked.

and Nat's honking laugh! my gawd, that was too funny... it only makes her more endearing to me.

nobody talk about CSI! i taped it and am gonna watch it tonight...

I couldn't read this particular posting, or post comments until my birthday/hell week at school was over... So now that I have watched the two main shows in question [Friends and Will and Grace] here's my take:
I seem to be in the minority here, but I teared up when Rachel saw the baby for the first time. It was surprisingly touching. However, I DID NOT like it that there was a baby to begin with. That plot line is the death of all shows. Just look at the list; Family Ties, Mad About You, The Cosby Show, Sex and the City is about to do it, the list goes on and on.
As for W & G, I quit watching when I found out that Jack had a kid, so my point is proven once again. I miss the old boozing heartless Karen. *sigh*
And WKen, I yelled at the screen when she wanted Emma. The writers were NOT on the ball on that one!

I didn't think Joey would do that. C'mon! He's a sweetie... but you just made me think, Robyn :-) I just don't know how I'm going to survive the summer wondering what is going to happen when Ross enters that room and sees what is going on...

I was ok with the Friends episode ... parts of it were a bit lame (Monica is on my last nerve and has been all season) but I was sappy & misty-eyed when she had the baby. That whole proposal thing... Hmmm.

Meanwhile, regarding ER - last night was a regular episode. The episode last week in Hawaii was NOT "an ER to cherish" (go on, sing the song now...) and I thought it was sort of lame. The one that REALLY got to me was the one when the ER found out that he was dead. I thought that was a really good episode.

I haven't watched Will & Grace yet.

I thought the season finale was excellent! My take on the Rachel/Joey ending is this as follows:

Rachel asked Joey to get more tissues for her under Ross' jacket.

Joey picks up Ross' jacket and the ring falls out. He bends down to get a closer look and ends up on his knees.

He realizes that Ross is going to propose to Rachel. Surprised, he turns around (still on his knees) to show Rachel. He moves closer to Rachel, moving his leg (now on one knee) and holds out the ring.

Rachel quickly replies, "Ok."

Now, Joey obviously has feelings for Rachel. But he's past that now. He realizes that Ross and Rachel are meant to be together. My feeling is that Joey was going to tell Rachel that the ring is actually from Ross.

Ross exits the elevator with bouquet in hand.

Joey is still on one knee.

Is that what your take is on the whole proposal thing?

I think next season is going to be great!

As far as Chandler and Monica. They can just give it up already!! Ugh.

Oh yeah... somehow I knew she would name her Emma... I'm not sure how, but when the nurse asked if they had a name for the baby... somehow I knew... *grins* Of course, Ben says that could be because Emma is like #2 on the baby list that just came out.

I was pissed at the end of the finale. Dumb dumb dumb. But, Paul is right... that should be an easy misunderstanding to fix.
