Why can't I be you?
Unfortunately Dawn seems to get her blog design stolen all the time...which was completely beyond me that people could be that pathetic and low (not to mention lazy)...until I headed on over to Stacy's tonight and saw that not her design, but her content had been stolen! That's right. some chick took it upon herself to take all of Stacy's entries and daily writings -- and then pass them off as her own. Un-freakin-believable. Ahhhh...behold the power of the smackdown. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but for identity and intellectual theft I really think you should rot in hell.

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

Talk about stolen identity. that totally stinks.

To say that is sucks is an understatement. Anyways I believe in karma... so no doubt that little thief will get what she deserves!

Classy. Veeeerry classy.

Fortunately, blogland's only so big -- despite the fact that it's huge. (wow, I'm profound before the coffee sets in). If you steal, someone will eventually catch you.

The question is, what's to be done? I've been out to the site and yeah, it's pretty clear what's up. However, if all this person's looking for is traffic and some backhanded sort of validation, then isn't she getting it? Granted she's getting it in the form of being told she's a plagiaristic little troll, but to some people, attention is attention.

So.

What's to be done? Is there some sort of recourse through Blogger? That sounds kinda strange, but at the same time... what else is there to do?

Oh my...how pathetic!!!! It's like an online version of Single White Female! :p

Yeah, we might go and take a look...but her blog is so bad, that no one will return for a second look. So her surge in traffic will only be temporary!

Anyway, I had something like this happen to me once...not with my blog, but another site I run. I had set up an online bookstore through an affiliate program, and I spent hours choosing what books I wanted to offer, and designing the page.

Then I get this e-mail from some schmuck who was running a similar site, asking me to link to him. I go over and look at his site, and I found that he had lifted my store! All he did was change my affiliate ID to his own!

I gave him hell about it, but he ignored me. Last I checked his entire site was gone. Whatta friggin' loser!

Unfortunately, there will be someone wanting to copy your ideas all the time. It's happened to me a few times and it just sucks. The good thing is that the person who copies is the one who will have the bad name, not you ;-) Guess it's a risk you have to be aware of when you decide to go online with your talents!

Okay, that is just straight up frightening?! WHY oh WHY would someone want to steal content? Something must be chemically imbalanced here.

I agree - thievery stinks. String 'em up! What's with the red hair?

I see the little weasel deleted all of her comments and text-chat. Hmmmm...

She can't delete what's on other's blogs, fortunately. Gr.

I once copied a site design, but only after contacting the owner to ask if it was okay. My content was going to be different (they were both fanfic sites but for different movies). Anyway, I had submitted stories to her site and decided to do a similar site for another movie. I emailed her and she was flattered and said that absolutely I could use her design as long as I linked back to her site. I did that AND made clear that I had her to thank for the design.

I guess there's an advantage to having a plain design. No one wants to steal it.

Jaynee, with permission is an entirely different matter altogether! You went out of your way to be upfront and honest -- and checked with the design's creator in advance. This person stole Stacy's identity -- most certainly without permission. And Dawn just finds her templates being used out there by "tipsters" -- they don't ever ask her. They just do it.

Oh that is absolutely disgusting. Next thing she will be copying the layouts too. Ick!!! People work hard at designing their sites and alot of the stuff they write is personal. You'd think that the least she could do was give Sekimori credit...
If you need inspiration, just ask, there are a lot of really great people out there who are willing to give you a hand.
*grrrrrr* This makes me mad!

If you can't come up with original content just... I dunno, do what the other people who can't come up with content do.

Only post test results, or something.

Dear oh dear. Some people just really need to get a life of their own. Fancy stealing someone's entries. That just takes the cake.

Man, I know that templates are easily taken, and I think it's kinda cool I guess, but not really buty stealing someones entries is just plain horrible.. she'll never be accepted in the blogging community.
