After reading all of the comments here and in the other blogs I linked to in that entry, I thought I'd try a little something new. "Comment tag...you're it!"
Feel free to take this image, make it a little bigger, add your own blog name and/or logo to the bottom, upload it to your own server, and hit someone else's comments with it. Just make sure to keep the ones above you - plus the instructions - on there so it will be a "chain" of links/images and they'll know what to do with it. Linking to this entry as an example in your tag-comment might not be a bad idea either. As the tag-list grows in other blogs, you'll be able to find new reads you might not otherwise have seen before. I struck first here -- now it's your turn! Just call it my own little version of slambook 2002! And you can't tag me back until there are at least 5 other blogs there besides yours and mine...
Still don't get it? Here's another tag-example I pulled from another site. It stopped with Christi's, and I added Susan's on as if she had been tagged next. So now there are four sites here. If Susan tagged someone else, they would add their info to make it five when they passed it on.
Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...
cool idea... BAM!
That's great!¤ ¤ credit: Juul | 05.02.02 at 06:39 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
Just don't forget to put the blog(s) above you so the chain will stay intact everyone! I put an example of the one above - plus mine - here.¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 05.02.02 at 06:54 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
that is a neat idea sorry to barge in here like I did but I liked the idea would u mind if I join in too?
Well since my blog is in Dutch you guys wouldn't understand what i'm babbling about (although Hoopty seems to understand it) so i'm not gonna be part of this chain but that doesn't keep me from following this tag-thingy...¤ ¤ credit: Juul | 05.02.02 at 07:25 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
Ok, I'm in! Posted mine! I'll be back! [cool Arnold voice]¤ ¤ credit: Trish | 05.02.02 at 07:38 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
Huh? I'm lost. I don't get it. Am I supposed to add other images that are posted in my blog too? I know, I know ... I don't know what a Slambook is either, so maybe that's why I'm so clueless here! ROFL!
Like I have your image, with Soulsink added to it. I go and add my image. I post it at Jennifer's site. Then someone else adds their own chain to my site ... say Brandy does with yours and hers - and I add those to my chain - so the full chain shows up at Jennifer's? See my question? And should we keep repeating the istructions over & over - or just add our URL? And am I making something really simple really complicated? Hey, I just want to be one of the cool kids; I don't want to screw this up!¤ ¤ credit: Christine | 05.02.02 at 07:44 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
I'm sorry, but I don't get it either.¤ ¤ credit: Kevin | 05.02.02 at 07:47 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
i am just as lost as the above 2 posters. and besides, i am just learning a bunch of stuff and have no idea how to add graphics to a comment box. I am a puter newbie. send me instructions in detail or something....lol¤ ¤ credit: kat | 05.02.02 at 08:20 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
Ok...intro to Slambooks 101.
Take the image I have. Next increase the height. Put your blog name, URL, and any identifying graphic you want below my graphic with the instructions. Then save it. Upload it. And go tag someone else. So the image you tag the next blog with (if there's only my image above you to start) will have 2 links -- mine and yours. Your tagline and/or "graphic" will be the lure to get someone else to your site from someone else's comments as the "tag" spreads on. Then when that person tags someone else, they will keep the two above them -- plus theirs -- and the next blog they tag will have 3. They're going to split out in all sorts of places in all different directions (because the blogs you read may not be the blogs I read and so on and so on) and that way your URL is hitting other comments you might otherwise never have hit yourself. But don't keep tagging someone or it becomes pointless -- as then it's "spam". Here's an example if you're still lost! Anyone's welcome to start their own (although a link to me as the originator would be very much appreciated), and thanks for asking!

totally understand now. Just need a graphics program to edit the image!¤ ¤ credit: michael | 05.02.02 at 09:01 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
Oh, so it's like one big image with a bunch of peoples tags on it?¤ ¤ credit: Kevin | 05.02.02 at 09:34 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
You got it Kevin! But since they'll be splitting off in so many different ways, hopefully they won't get TOO huge or you'll have to trim 'em down I would imagine... It's just a way to get exposure your site might otherwise not get on other blogs you've never even visited via someone else's "tag" heading off in a different direction after you pass it on -- with your image being up above theirs.¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 05.02.02 at 09:39 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
What a great idea! Thanks for my image Robyn!! :)¤ ¤ credit: Christi | 05.02.02 at 11:01 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
Ahhh, clever idea! Thanks for the help.¤ ¤ credit: Kevin | 05.02.02 at 11:23 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
But wait, if I get a bunch of different ones in my comments, do I add my site to all of them? Which one do I put on other peoples comments?¤ ¤ credit: Kevin | 05.02.02 at 11:28 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
Kevin, now you're just confusing the person that started this. That can't be good... I guess if in doubt, flip a coin? Heh.¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 05.02.02 at 11:34 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
Actually - Kevin's comment was part of what I was trying to ask too. If I start one and spread it along with your image, soulsink, and then mine - but others leave theirs behind in my comments, do I add them on to the one I was just out passing around?¤ ¤ credit: Christine | 05.03.02 at 02:42 AM | link--this ¤ ¤
hmm...I can't seem to post an image in peoples comments..only thing that's stopping meeee.....¤ ¤ credit: Zoe | 05.03.02 at 02:55 AM | link--this ¤ ¤
Totally up to you Christine. I honestly never expected they would keep piling up if others saw you had a bunch already. And I didn't really want to make a lot of "rules" and set a lot of stipulations. Rules = no fun! I don't want people to stress over it either. If you're stressing, it's not aiming at what I was intending. Just pass it on if you get tagged...other people will see your blog after you do...and all will be coo'. If you're constantly going back to update an image, it ends up more trouble than it's worth, IMHO. But that's just me. I only intend to update the ones I'm tagged with -- not ones I've already passed on. At that point, they are out of my hands.¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 05.03.02 at 02:57 AM | link--this ¤ ¤
OK this sounds like such a kewl idea and being the one to surely screw it up I wanted to make sure I understand :)
This is a great idea, but I've found that most people have HTML turned off in their comments.C.C. | 05.03.02 at 09:43 AM | link--this ¤ ¤
Ah ah ah, C.C. -- read the fine print in my entry! "And you can't tag me back until there are at least 5 other blogs there besides yours and mine..." I'll pass it on, this time. ;-p And you're reading the wrong blogs! Most of the ones I visit do allow HTML. *g*¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 05.03.02 at 01:37 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
I actually knew how to do it. Todd hit me last night. Good thing, too, because the porn was getting old.
Well i'm not to sure of what i'm supposed to do with this but here's my tag. I got turned onto this by lost by lost www.soulsink.com/lost and I thought it was a cool idea. Anyways, I dig your blog.
¤ ¤ credit: | 05.03.02 at 04:57 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
haha.. no one's tagged me yet, but i've tagged keith's blog.
in case anyone's wondering.¤ ¤ credit: ericalynn | 05.03.02 at 06:27 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
Ok, so let me get this straight. We will keep passing along all these tags to everyone as sort of advertisments and keep it goin like a train. And if i get tagged in my comments with my tag already on it then i won't put mine on again right. So it'll kind of look like this.....
I know I might be looking stupid right now but i just wanna be sure of what i'm doin. Thanks
¤ ¤ credit: buddah | 05.03.02 at 08:09 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
robyn, please delte this if I screwed it up ok....lol i'm still learning and i hope you don't mind that I'm testing it here. =)¤ ¤ credit: kat | 05.03.02 at 09:02 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
Interesting idea. So we just tag one person and hope they follow through?¤ ¤ credit: sya | 05.03.02 at 10:55 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
buddah, you got it right! *high fives* kat, I don't think your server allows you to link to images on their server unless it's actually appearing on your site, so I took it down for you. And sya, you got it! *ding, ding, ding*¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 05.04.02 at 02:29 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
I tried going out and tagging the world while SnobJumping. I tried five different blogs, and not ONE had HTML allowed in their comments. Neat idea Robyn, but I give up.¤ ¤ credit: Harry | 05.05.02 at 08:15 PM | link--this ¤ ¤
I couldn't resist trying. Of course, I need to append the others to the same image. Very cool idea Robyn!
