You wanna piece of me?
Normally I would just scan the cards, but our scanner only works with the Dell and it's in North Carolina right now...so bear with me... Someone asked to see questions from the Trivial Pursuit TV Edition, © 1991.

Go ahead and take stabs at them in the comments, and I'll post all the answers for each card later tonight! And just remember, if you cheat by looking up the answers online...you don't get that luxury when playing the game...

UPDATE: Questions with ** at the end have been answered correctly in the comments. The answers to each card have been added now, as well if you click the "read more" link.

    what, no cheating? *cry*

Don't feel bad! I've never brought out that box of cards and had a group of people willing to finish the game with them. They are HARD -- and you would've had to been glued to a TV since the early 1950s for most of them.

Ok here's what I guessed (mind you these are answers that I would have answered. the ones i'm not sure with have ?'s.):

    card 1 #5 - Nichelle Nichols

    card 2 #3 - The Fugitive

    card 2 #5 - Walter Cronkite?

card 2 #6 - The Tracy Ullman show?

ha! nevermind I would suck at this game.

All of psychodaisy's answers are correct! Off to alter the main entry to reflect that... :-)

Card 1, DRM: What type of daytime programming was Procter & Gamble the leading sponsor of in TV's golden years? Soap operas

    ¤ ¤ credit: Christine | 03.21.02 at 06:35 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Card 1, K&G: What game show host is attired by Mr. Guy? Uh, uh, the guy from Family Fued! (What, you don't accept the answers like that in your family when you play TP?)

Card 1, WC: What word starts program titles ending with Again?, Are There and Bet Your Life? "You"

Card 3, SIT: What year was the final episode of Newhart set in? 1972

    ¤ ¤ credit: Christine | 03.21.02 at 06:40 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

PS - I *love* to play Trivial Pursuit, and I prefer the original box of cards. I haven't ever really played with the other sets that much, but the original Genius edition rocks!

    ¤ ¤ credit: Christine | 03.21.02 at 06:41 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I updated the front page to reflect that Christine was right about "soap operas" and "You".

However, her answers were incorrect for the game show host attire (wrong host!) and the year the final Newhart episode was set in (remember, he had 2 shows!). So keep guessin' on those...

    ¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.21.02 at 06:48 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

I was guessing the final year for the 2nd show. Although ... yeah. That's what the question was asking. I just guessed wrong. Should always go with instinct - my original guess was 1969.

    ¤ ¤ credit: Christine | 03.21.02 at 07:07 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

am i gonna be embarrassed for knowing that Chachi's last name is Arcola? and geez, you guys already answered all the easy ones. can I guess?
card #1 SIT: Hawkeye (or Benjamin Franklin Pierce, for you sticklers)

    card #2 CLC: Joe Friday

card #2 SIT: Arcola (NOT a guess, but i thought i'd throw it in here so anyone just scanning thru would see it)

    card #2 K&G: 5

Remember, those are guesses. and i didn't cheat; that's no fun. how'd i do?

    ¤ ¤ credit: mikey | 03.21.02 at 07:18 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

Christine dear, you haven't even been in the right decade for either answer. ;-) Wrong show, wrong show, wrong show silly! (Edited to say, you might even be guessing the right show re-reading your answer -- but you have to pick what year the SHOW was set in, not the finale.)

Well, we're heading out to a sports bar here in a bit to catch the OU game since some networks seem to think the Duke game is more important. Keep guessin' and I'll be back with the answers later tongiht!

    ¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.21.02 at 07:18 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

All of Mikey's answers are correct, btw! You go! ;-p

    ¤ ¤ credit: robyn | 03.21.02 at 07:21 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

    I'll take a shot:

    Card 1

    CLC: Morris Fink

    SIT: Father Mulcahy

    K&G: Pat Sajak

    Card 2

    CLC: Joe Friday

    Card 3

    CLC: Billy Graham

    SIT: 2004

    DRM: Alzheimer's

    K&G: Burt Convy

    STR: Mr. Ford

    WC: The Monkees, American Bandstand

Yes, I just guessed on a lot of those. What's yer point?

(I wonder if I used enough HTML this time?)

    ¤ ¤ credit: David | 03.21.02 at 07:32 PM | link--this ¤ ¤

David got Billy Graham, Alzheimer's, and nice try on STR! ;-)
