My Cupid has a first name...it's T.O.D.D.
The older we get, and the longer we've been married, the less big of a deal we make out of Valentine's Day. You won't see 3 dozen roses or the monster-Godiva ballotin around here. No stuffed animals that will collect dust starting tomorrow. Forget the 3-hour line at Olive Garden later tonight. And I don't play the 'my husband loves me more than yours because he bought me "X" game' either. We're actually saving all of our money -- and all of my energy -- for Weezer on the 24th.

However, that's not to say we've fallen out of love or the romance is dead. Because you should have heard me squealing awhile back as I woke up and discovered these carefully tucked everywhere I looked (or would look) this morning -- on my Diet Coke bottle, on all of my keyboards and monitors, on the TV, etc. That is the best part of marriage! BE MINE, Todd -- thank you! xoxoxo

Hey boy take a look at me...let me dirty up your mind...

How absolutely sweet!

Well, I think I have the BEST son-in-law in the world! Those prove it. Congratulations to you both. Love you. Mom

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't want to post this in my notes and get people rolling their eyes... so I'll tuck it in here...

When I woke up and went to the bathroom to do the ol' make up routine, I glanced back into a our bedroom and something odd caught my eye. It was hanging right over the bed where Paul continued to sleep.

Walking closer, it is a mylar balloon in the shape of a bubble (you know those cloud looking things where the comics do their talking) and it says, "I love you." I wish I had gotten a picture of that! It was as if Paul was dreaming that.

Then, when I went to get my morning coffee and newspaper, there was a huge bouquet of mylar balloons of various sizes. Paul said since the kids both have their own (birthdays), it was time I had one to add to the mix. Now, our kitchen is full of Bob the Builder, Harry Potter and heart balloons.

You're so right about celebrating Valentines and such... the longer you're married, etc. Romance isn't dead, we're busier than ever as we have become more and more ingrained into the community. We haven't even gone out to celebrate anything in quite awhile. That's OK, I love just watching a movie and snuggling.

So cool to see green eye's handwriting! ;)

*THOSE* are the best kind of Valentine gifts. They say, "I love you" so much more to me than a card someone else wrote from Hallmark or a dinner someone else made at a restaurant. You rock Todd.

Oh, what a sweet boy you have, Robyn! And Meryl, thank YOU for sharing too!
I left little notes in E's wallet this morning... and even attacked the comics with my red pen to make hearts so that when E read this morning, he'd feel loved ;)

I love your idea, Kristine! I'll have to try that one Sunday, the only day that Paul gets to really read the paper.

"Sweetie Post-it notes" are the best!!! You're lucky to have such a great guy -- not just today -- but year-round!! :) Happy Valentine's Day!!

We've never made a "big deal" out of Valentines Day. I think every year before this year I've just received a single rose, which I think is enough. Roses are so damn expensive on Valentines Day. This year I got 4, cause that's how many years we've been together - awwwwwwwwwwwwww... I'd be just as happy with a poem scrawled on a piece of paper or little post-it notes around the house. It's the thought behind it that counts, not how large the bunch or fluffy the toy. We just went out for coffee after dinner.

That is so sweet! In my opinion, those are the best types of things to get on Valentine's Day (not that I won't take the roses, though!). What a wonderful couple you two are!

That is SO sweet, Robyn!

Mike and I don't do the big to-do, either. "Cats" just happened to be in town now, so we figured that V-day would be a good time to go...otherwise, we probably just would have stayed home.

Other than that...I bought two cards for him...one had a picture of a cat who coughed up a heart-shaped hairball. I signed all the cats' names on it, and snuck it into the bathroom while he was showering. The other card was from me, and I hid it in his underwear drawer.

He wakes up earlier than I do. When I woke up, I opened my eyes to see a box of Hershey's Pot of Gold and a card on his pillow...and Squeaker, one of our kitties. The second he saw my eyes open...he squoke! There's no way Mike could have planned this, but it was SO cute!

I hope everyone had a happy day!
