2 hours of our lives...gone
So we had a "date night" and went to see Vanilla Sky. Now let's just get this straight from the beginning, shall we? I don't like Tom Cruise. Todd doesn't like Tom Cruise. I think he's an ass. I think he should rot in hell for what he did to Nicole. I think Stacy has already written the essay I wish I could claim on the subject. That said, I did it all for the nookie. The nookie... Not with Todd sillies. Jason Lee! Until tonight, I was under the impression that no matter how bad the movie.....it couldn't be bad if it had Jason Lee in it. I was wrong. We lost two hours of our lives that we are never, ever getting back. Ironic if you've seen the film, no? I won't really blog about the film, because if you're stupid enough to fork over $7 each for it in the theater like we were, you pretty much deserve what you get. The cliffhanger ending was more like a "please dear lord let the credits roll and put us out of our misery" ending. Jason's acting was great. The few scenes he was in were great. Cameron Diaz had a line guaranteed to make you spew your soda, and Penélope Cruz is so cute you just want to force-feed her Twinkies and Ho-Hos 'til her hips look more like yours do and there's justice in this world. But Tom. Please step aside... Between this and Eyes Wide Shut, you're about a Battlefield Earth away from joining your ol' Scientology buddy Travolta!

I agree I have heard alot of people say that, that move sucked and that it's not worth watching it. the movie guy from I think Good Morning America, said that the movie was all over the place, and the cliff hanger was all screwed up. He said too that, the director made a line change just so that Vanilla Sky could be the title...I'm sorry you lost that time... I have had them days too.

DAMN! and I've been looking forward to seeing it. I'm not a huge Tom fan, but that Cameron Diaz sure is yummy!

seriously -- I don't know -- I might still fork out the money to see it. I've seen worse -- jay dragged me to, Dude, Where's My Car? I wanted to hang myself ten minutes into it.

Well, I guess we won't see that tonight! Hehe. We were debating between Ocean's 11 and VS and I think you made the decision for us.

I am dying to know what the hell that movie is about, but not curious enough to spend 7 dollars on it. I have something against giving Tom Cruise any of my hard earned money.

Yes, Erika, Dude, Where's my Car was so bad that my brain exploded about ten minutes into it.

Now THAT'S the kind of review I want to read about a movie! I think a bunch of us should start a movie review blog (if it hasn't already been done, which it probably has) and post reviews in that way - it was very helpful! I don't like Tom Cruise either, but I was actually interested until your post - thanks for saving me the $9!!!!! :)

Erika, we just looked at each other and said "Dude, Where's My Car?" is a theatrical masterpiece compared to "Vanilla Sky". At least it had bubble wrap! ;-)

Meredith, there's a site called Film Fatales www.filmfatales.com (the very site that published my Tom Cruise hate fest article) that has completely honest, if not totally sarcastic, movie reviews. In fact, the proprietor, Carly, is delighted talk to potential new writers, so if you're feeling motivated, go on over and check it out.

One nice thing about being deaf is waiting to see movies when they come out on DVD. In other words, I can really be sure about wasting 2 hours of my life or not by the time it's released for home viewing. Thanks for saving me two hours, Robyn. Sorry you had to lose your two hours. I've lost a few to bad movies, too...

I also wanted to see VS, but with LoTR coming in a few days I wasn't sure it was going to happen anyway. But we have wasted our time on movies before and don't want to do it again - MK2... And this may be so bad that we won't even gone to Hasting's and rented it for $1.49 because of what we've heard - Avengers with Uma...

But I do totally agree about Tom. I never really liked him but after the Nicole thing I totally agree that he is an ass. And I hope that we aren't in a minority for feeling that way! And btw Stacy, I also hated Risky Business!

That's so funny this made your top 10 blog entries for the year. I came to your site specifically to look for this entry because I just finished watching Ebert and Roeper review their top 10 movies for 2001... guess what was on it? Yep, Vanilla Sky! Hmm...
