Mikey2 - Please keep in mind the volume that the Foundation deals with. It is not always possible to personalize every single letter. I did do my best to inform the proper people of this donation. Sometimes special letters are written, sometimes not. As someone that works in the acknowledgment department of the Foundation, I would like to say congratulations on a very successful and unique fundraising effort.

FYI -- The makers of M&M candies has teamed up with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to raise funds through the sale of their new "pink & white " M&M candies. For each 8-ounce bag of the special candies sold, the makers of M&M will donate 50 cents to the foundation.

Now you might notice that even though we raised $6686.45, I only moved over the total balance in my PayPal account of $6433.49. This is because PayPal requires you to upgrade to its premier account in order to process credit card payments. By doing so, each credit card donation had an amount automatically deducted by PayPal (2.9%+ $0.30 USD) before I ever saw it in my PayPal account. However, I posted the full amount of each donation on the donations page. Then at the end of the Boobie-Thon (as my husband and I also did last year), we donate the total amount that PayPal has deducted to "break even" and give Komen the published / donated amount on the site.

This year, we will be donating an additional $252.96 out of pocket -- so when that amount is added to the amount transferred of $6433.49 -- this will bring us to a cashier's check mailed next week for a total of $6686.45.

I will update the site again once payment has been mailed to Komen.

So what happens next? Well I received quite a few e-check payments today, so those have to clear first. PayPal says this usually takes 4-5 business days, which will put it roughly on October 17, 2003. After that, I have to transfer the total PayPal funds to my bank account. PayPal says this usually takes 2-3 business days. Hopefully by October 22, 2003, all funds will have cleared the necessary channels and I can send a cashier's check to Susan G. Komen. Just like last year, I will update this blog every step of the way so that you can follow my progress. And of course when received, I will post the official donation letter from Komen just like I did in 2002.
