You oughtta know
Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know" just came on. I can't help giggling each time I hear it. Not because of the lyrics, but because one day a long long time ago, I learned she was actually singing about comedian Dave Coulier (of "Full House" fame) in that song. I just can't take it seriously after that...no matter how well-written and ground-breaking the lyrics might be...

that's funny!!! i never knew that!!!! ha!!! :D

You lie! Oh dear...that song has been a source of great catharsis for me over the years. Was. Dammit!

To quote Ashley's Daric, "I'm serious as a heart attack baby," unfortunately. Apparently they were shacked up and broke up badly before the album came out -- and the rest is history. Isn't that scary!?! I heard it on one of those "Behind the Music" kind of things (before that was even a show) back in late '96 shortly after we got married, and we've laughed about it ever-since!

Isn't it just *hysterical* to picture the two of them together? Totally cracks me up.

Yep! But after her "You Can't Do That on Television" days, before "Jagged Little Pill" broke, she was quite the little bubblegum pop princess though... ;-)

I loved that song when it came out. I agreed with all the critics who said she had written some powerful lyrics. And then, in the waaay back section of Rolling Stone, I was reading some of the less glitzy awards that no one cared about and low and behold was some guys name awarded for writing the lyrics to "You Oughta Know" performed by Alanis. I've disliked her ever since.

I always did like her music, when it first came out, because I was bitter too. But man.... I forgot about Dave.. that's too funny.
